AMERC Brass

I am very dissapointed in this thread.

I was really, really hoping to more folks out there would be in LOVE with AMERC brass.

SO I WOULDN'T HAVE TO PICK THAT C#$P UP AND TOSS IT AWAY:cuss:

Also, would more people please start re-loading the .40 S&W. Good golly, there is a carpet of that brass on the bays that I shoot (outdoor range with large-20 yards wide 30 yards deep--bays that you can do what you want). I am getting to the age in my life where stooping over to check another .40 case to see if it is .45 is really starting to bug me.
Thanks. That is all.
P.S. Only thing wose than stooping for a .40 case is finding an AMERC:banghead:

So you noticed that too? I'm the rangemaster at my club (which mostly means I pick up brass and empty the trash barrels) and I've found that there's more .40 cases lying around than all other calibers combined.

I'm one of those cluttering the range floor with .40's. I do sweep them away before I start on my .45 or 10mm though. ;)

I have fired hundreds of new Amerc .40 and even reloaded some. So far, no problems with the factory ammo from them. I don't use them for reloads anymore, however. Heard too many bad things about them. It says something too, when you take a bunch of their fired cases and weigh them. They vary all over the place, by as much as 8gr. Do that with starline, or winchester.....won't be the case. Pardon the pun. Their QA must be loose as heck, or non-existant.

I know a guy who's a real brass rat. He picks up everything. I mean he picks up brass for calibers he doesn't own, polishes them, resizes them (yes, he has the dies) and keeps them "in case he ever buys one". What does he do when he finds an Amerc? He throws it into the woods behind the range so no one else will reload it either. That's enough for me.

I started this thread because I bought 400 rounds of Amerc .30 Carbine for $40. The guy I bought it from told me at the time of the sale, "This is cheap, but you're getting what you pay for." Boy was he right. Here's an update:

I took 100 rounds of Amerc .30 Carbine to the range today to shoot through my M1 Carbine. I had previously used some through my Blackhawk with no FTF's but the accuracy was not good. Out of 100 rounds, here's what happened with my M1:

9 rounds FTF - There were good firing pin strikes on the rounds, they just didn't blow up. Just for the heck of it, I stuffed these rounds into a magazine for a 2nd trip through and only two went off.

Over 15 split cases - I stopped checking for splits at 15. The splits were weird, they started about 1/4" up from the rim, and stopped just shy of the top of the case. I've fired 1000's of rounds of various ammo through this gun and have never had even one case split on me.

Accuracy at 50 yards was horrible. With the standard military sights, I got a palm-sized 15-shot group with factory Magtech (CBC headstamp) ammo - so far so good. Then I switched to the Amerc ammo and was getting 10"-15" groups. The last magazine I put through her was filled with some handloads and I was right back to a 4", 15-shot group.

I wish I'd brought my chrono because the recoil and report seemed to be very inconsistent with the Amerc ammo.

This stuff is the worst garbage I've ever used. By far. I'm going to bump fire the rest of this crap and chalk one up to experience.
