Has anyone here ever had any reliability issues with American Eagle 9mm FMJ 115gr ammo? If you own a CZ-75, has this load shot reliably in your pistol?

My CZ-75 hates WWB 9mm fmj (100 round bulk pack), LOVES PMC fmjs of any weight and I'll like to see whether I can widen the gun's diet to include AE ammo.

Federal AE is some of the better "practice" ammo, IMHO. It seems to be a little "hotter" than everything else except the WWB stuff and its quality is unmatched in my experience.

Ed Brown recommends it for his pistols. From the FAQ section at the Ed Brown site.

What type of ammunition do you recommend for your handguns?

We recommend high quality Federal or Winchester ammunition, and nothing else. In our years of testing and experience, ammunition by these makers has proven to be of consistent high quality. The core of our function testing is done with Federal 230 grain FMJ, which is great self-defense ammunition. For accuracy, the Federal 185 grain Gold Metal Match ammo tends to produce the best groups.

This has been on his site for several years. Federal now sells a "Champion" line at Wal-Mart and other places. This is not the same product as American Eagle. I've seen lots of complaints about the Champion line in various forums. I've used a lot of American Eagle ammo. It works well.

AE is great ammo. CZs must be somewhat picky on ammo.

I was at the range with my son a couple weeks ago and he was having quite a few problems with his CZ SP01 and Federal white box ammo.

I loaded up 18 rounds of it in my P226 and blasted away without an issue to his consternation :D . Then again the P226 is a garbage disposol when it comes to ammo and another reason why I love it so much.

All guns are not the same. What one CZ likes, another may not.

The only sure way of knowing what ammo your gun likes is to shoot that ammo with your gun.

I don't remember if I've shot AE in my own CZ 75D PCR, but AE in general is good ammo. (That gun, BTW, does often fail to eject CCI Blazer aluminum.) I would think if your gun has trouble with that ammo it will have trouble with others.

I have fired AE ammo in quite a bit of calibers. When I can find it I prefer it to other cheap practice or target ammo like WWB. Plus you can usually find a box of 50 for it for a better price than 20.

I've been using AE for years. The first thing that caught my eye was the price, the second plus (for me) is it's made by Federal. I've always prefered Federal for some reason.

I've used AE in .223, .308, .357mag, 9mm and .40. I just ordered another 1000 round case of 9mm. I couldn't say much for the other calibers for sure, but the .357 I've shot was sure loaded hot. I could definately tell a difference with that caliber.

I had Winchester White Box ammo, buy the 5th round through the gun, I said why did I buy this ammo?????? Didnt want to feed in my Ruger P95, had some left over for my carry piece and did same thing, didnt want to feed and jammed. Kept the brass for reloading though, and did measurements on the brass, but I beleive it was the COAL was to long but not 100% sure.

My guns, including CZs have fed most everything I feed them over many years. This includes Winchester ammo from the 50 round white boxes. In general this is some of the best practice ammo out there.

But you say the 100 round bulk ammo packs from Winchester, usually sold through sporting good stores, Wal Mart, etc. is some of the worst in my experience. This is made up of ammo rejected from their standard packs due to being out of spec in one way or the other. The proof is to open a box and examine the ammo (a good habit to get into by the way, with any ammo). You can visibly see that the ammo is improperly loaded. Some rounds too long, some too short, some the cases are bulged a bit, etc. When you shoot them you can feel the varied powder charges.
It is a bit useful for clearance drills and such. Winchester's bulk ammo packs are not good bargains for me due to this.

Get in the habit of physically examining the ammo.
