American Non-Union Firearms & Ammo

I was wondering why would it matter if a firearm is made by a unionized or non-union plant?

It wouldn't in terms of the quality of the firearm.

It might for some other reason.

But the OP just asked a question about what places were unionized and which aren't. There are a couple dozen or more manufacturers in the U.S., for more than a few of those most folks simply don't seem to know.

If a person is doing a survey best to just call the manufacturers and ask them.

Some folks seem to have a love/hate relationship with whether or not a product was not only US-made, but union-made.......It's an old argument dating from the days of the 30's and someone's grandfather, and has nothing to do with this place

oh, and winchester ammo, and winchester guns are different companies. The gun are non-union, the ammo may be.
The rimfire production was moved to a non-union plant a few years ago. I believe that the centerfire ammo is union made.

I know in the mid to late 70s colt also got their steel from a union shop (crucible steel out of CNY) my dad worked there. up until 75 or so he said you could get a discount on colt firearms because of the affiliation.
A good amount of Colt stock is (or was) owned by the Connecticut state employees union retirement fund.

For those who might still be interested. Both Smith and Wesson and Ruger, in their annual reports, stated that they are non-union shops.

Winchester centerfire ammo is in the process of being moved to a non-union plant, from Illinois to Alabama

Ruger rifles, shotguns, and revolvers are made and serviced in NH. Ruger pistols (semiautos) except the Charger, are made and serviced in AZ.

For better or worse, NH is a very pro-business, employment at will, right to work state.

Thompson Center has most of their manufacturing operation in Rochester, NH and they are not a union shop.

Bushmaster is up in Winham, ME and I don't believe they are a union shop either.
