I thought I would share my experiences with Winchester ammo and see what others have to say. In 22 rimfire I have a marlin model 60 and a ruger single six "convertible" revolver. I have shot federal bulk, aguila, Remington golden bullet, CCI and Winchester bulk.
the marlin has never had a problem with any of the ammo except the Winchester bulk ammo. that crap jams like you wouldn't believe and had a FTF that I had to use a small knife to get it out. switch back to Remington, aguila, federal ect and shoots like a charm again.
my ruger single six with the 22LR cylinder shoots federal, Remington and aguila like a charm. the Winchester bulk ammo some would go in the cylinder and probably 8 out of 10 wouldn't even go in the cylinder. I noticed with the Winchester the bullets look horrible and inconsistent. Its like as if they were beat into shape with a hammer.
my brother has a hi point 9mm and it will also shoot anything except the Winchester. shoot 1 or 2 then jam and lots of FTF.
I was thinking well maybe its just the low end Winchester and maybe the high end Winchester is good?
So I ran across some Winchester 22mag PDX1 and thought that would be great for my ruger single six with the mag cylinder.
It shoots CCI and Remington ect like a dream. the PDX1 drops in the cylinder fine but turning the cylinder was hard like the rim of the casing was too thick and was dragging against the gun. shot fine but some of it was so bad I could barely turn the cylinder.:banghead: anyone else have that problem? I switched back to CCI and Remington and the cylinder spins free.
One things for sure, I will NEVER buy Winchester ammo again (unless its for my 12 gauge which shoots Winchester without any problems
