Kim passes on a good idea.

Publicola suggests that we all “celebrate” the anniversary of the horrible Kelo decision on June 23, by turning it into ART Day (see link for details).

Sounds like a good idea to me. On the other hand, any excuse to go to the range is a good one.

And just so that everyone can see that ART Day is not just a feelgood idea: let’s all send our targets to the United Nations Small Arms Conference the next day (they’ll get to NY on Tuesday or Wednesday).

One rule, and one rule only: No picture targets (of Kofi, the UN flag or anything like that). Just shoot up ordinary target circles or silhouette targets, and send ‘em in.

Here’s the address:

H.E. Mr. Prasad Kariyawasam (President)
UN Small Arms Review Conference 2006
UN Headquarters
First Avenue at 46th Street
New York, NY 10017

Pass the word around. Maybe a few thousand targets filled with bullet-holes will give these GFW types something to think about.

stay safe.

Maybe I'm being a little cautious here, but I think sending targets could be perceived as a threat of violence. I'm certain that if I sent one the the President, I'd get a visit from the Secret Service. Don't know if anything similar would happen if you send them to Kofi. Just a thought.

I do not understand how you can impute a threat from a used target - especially a bullseye-type target.

All it does is demonstrate your proficiency (or lack thereof) with small arms - you know, those things the UN wants to ban.

I'm planing on signing mine, with a note about how enjoyable my session at the range was as I practiced concentration, (self) discipline, and mental & physival relaxation, as well as contributiong to the economy of my locality. I'm going to ask why the UN wants to prevent me from continuing to enjoy those things.

If some official does see some sort of "threat" in the sending of targets, I'll just have to ask how that leap of intellect was accomplished.

stay safe.
