I'm going to purposely keep this as vague as I can.
I picked some folks up at the airport in PA who flew from FL on Airtran. A revolver was declared in the checked baggage and ammo wrapped in a piece of clothing and in the corner of the suitcase.
Baggage check person said that ammo had to be in either the original carton or a wooden box and they would have to confiscate it. They promptly dropped all 5 rounds into the suitcase and then could only find 3, zipped up the bag and sent it through.
Says nothing about original carton or wooden box on the Airtran website, only that weapon must be in a locked case with ammo separate.
Let's not forget the TSA. While these folks are being searched by the "employees", shoes off, arms up, wanded, everything but a cavity search they wave through a muslim group with 2 bearded military aged men with the look of murder on their faces.
