I have Remington Core-Lokt PSP (what is PSP?) 130 gr. and 130 gr. Winchester Ballistic Silver Tip. I will shoot both and find the one my rifle ( Remington 700 Featherweight with Leopold VX-III) likes best. Are either of these preferable for deer between 100-200 yds assuming they both shoot well from my rifle? Thanks for the advise.

If history is any indicator, both should do just fine. In my experience, I have found the 130 and 140 grain to work extremely well. SP is for "spire point".

Try some reloads, using a 130 grain projectile, with 60 grains of either H4831 or H4831SC, with a Federal 210 benchrest primer. If your rifles won't print MOA, something is wrong with it. This is the standard .270 Win load.

With this load, I set my zero at 300 yards. I and my friends took several deer and boar with this load, 1-shot-kills, out to 400 yards.

I have used the Barnes X bullet in a factory load from PMC with 130 & 150 grain loads and they shoot very well. The bullet is devastating on deer and I have seen the bullets taken from kudu and other antelope from Africa with the same deadly results. However you may not be able to find PMC rounds since they have quit loading this offering but Federal and Black Hills Gold both offer rounds loaded with this bullet. I am going to try some handloads to see what results can be had with the bullet. At any rate it has worked very well for me in factory loads.

If you do your part by making a good shot, either will kill a deer dead enough for you to dress it and drag it out of the woods. The premium ammo that costs $30+/box will kill them slightly deader.

All I use in my .270 7600 is Remington Core-Lokt 130 gr. I've never had a problem with the deer not getting dead enough from that ammo.

Remington PSP

Pointed Soft Point works well too.................

Honestly either the of the afore mentioned loads will work just fine at the ranges you have specified. I would choose the one that shoots the best.

Other good factory loads to try include the Federal 130 gr Sierra GameKing, the Federal 130 gr in the Nosler solid base boat tail, and the Hornday 130 and 140 gr Interbonds.

The 270 is more than enough gun for whitetails at the ranges you are shooting, unless you decide to shoot much larger game than whitetails I would not sweat the load much. Have fun and good luck!
