Have to say, nicely impressed with my new TC Venture in 270 Win. Nice 24" barrel, great feeling stock. Been wanting to try a 270 Win. with a 24" barrel. The only issue to address was the trigger. This rifle is the Gen 1. We added a Burris Fullfield E1 scope, Vortex Aluminum rings, the gun came with aluminum bases. Best group with factory ammo at 100m was with Remington Peters 130 gr. plastic tip. I had one called flyer each with the Hornady and the Peters load. 1st target= American Whitetail load with one flyer (pulled shot.) First three shots out of the barrel with the American Whitetail were under 1". Second pic is Rem. 130 gr. Core Lokt with no flyers. Third pic is Rem. Peters 130 gr. with one dropped shot, called. All at 100m. 20211212_150555.jpg 20211212_150623.jpg 27459.jpeg 27454.jpeg 27453.jpeg 27448.jpeg 27445.jpeg 27444.jpeg
This last pic on this gong shows my last 2 shots at 200 yds, about 1" apart, high and a little left.(scope was adjusted prior to shooting these last two, to zero about 2.5" high at 100m 27439.jpeg

I think a better shooter could hold this thing right at an inch with some factory loads. I dont think she really cared for the Remington Core Lokt ammo, but that js typical for my 270's.

I like my Venture 6.5 CM. Your accuracy assessment is not surprise. Both of my T/C bolt guns are tack drivers. However, I have found that they are a bit like Rodney Dangerfield in the respect department.

I just wish it had a 3 position safety.

Yes, just a 2 position safety, and I wish it was a little more clear of the bolt. You CAN accidently swipe that safety while working the bolt.

Agree, for the money my TC Venture II in 223 is thought to beat. $300 gun with a $600 Athlon scope, LOL. But I had to fix the magazine to make it perfect.

First up, the lever to release the Mag was too long and easily bumped dropping the Mag. So I cut it down below flush of the Mag bottom.

Second it wouldn’t feed 100% in every gun position which required two fixes. The mag flat spring was installed backwards from the factory. I added a 0.200” feed lip at front of mag. Now 100% reliable feeding, any gun position.

Here is a 10 round 100 yard group using factory IMI Match 77gr. A clump of 5, clump of 3, and two by them selves. Penny for reference.

The mag on mine does not drop or even pull down easily, and is only 3 round. I think if I radiused the rear of the mag a little it would drop.

You know I have bought a few budget rifles, Ruger Mossberg, Savage, TC Compass, etc. The Venuture does compare favorably overall, and would serve well no matter if it was your first rifle or your only rifle. It is good enough. I did have to adjust the trigger to my liking. I am sure a skim bedding job would help further, but this thing is already more than "minute of deer" and I have not even tried to load for it.

I do like the Burris for the money, but may splurge for a nicer scope (suggestions?) Maybe the Meopta Meopro.

Never owned one but have handled a few. Never heard a bad thing about them but they are in a crowded field of very similar rifles all at about the same price point.
For sure!
There are really no deal breakers on it for me. Trigger? I could adjust it, just like a Rem 700 and it breaks clean. No issue. Stock? It has pillars, a nice reinforced polymer, and one of the more rigid forends. Barrel? Accurate, contoured and nicely crowned. Action? 3 lug push feed with plunger ejector. Full diameter bolt is slightly sluggish, but smooth and functions perfect.

I have one in 6.5cm, actually now my wife's. It's a tack driver with 143eldx.
I don't own a .270, but thinking of getting a budget model just for load testing since I've been reloading for SIL and a friend. T/C or Savage is probably what I'll get, but the T/C has a smoother action.

I had the exact same rifle in 270 with a Burris FFII on it and LOVED it! Good shooter and I liked the trigger. I loved the fact that it had a 24" barrel also. Had about 20 rounds down the barrel.

A little over a month ago I sold the rifle with scope to my nephew for $200 because well... He's my nephew..... And it's his first rifle that's actually "his"
