An Anti Came Over To Our Side

Just to show things are not always what you think. We got one guy at work who has been pretty vocal that he is anti assault weapon. During a discussion the other day, he was asked, what was it about assault weapons that he was against. Appearance? Caliber? Number of rounds...what? His answer, "he did not believe that everyone should be able to buy fully automatic weapons!!!" Once he understood that all the AR type weapons were not fully auto. That most "assault weapons" were defined only by cosmetic features and had little difference from hunting and target shooting semi-auto firearms. How, and what hoops a person had to go through to own a fully automatic firearm. He was in total agreement that an AWB was the wrong direction.

There are some real kool-aid drinkers out there. There are also a lot of uneducated people who are clueless about what the left is wanting to do.

Many, many, people think the "assault weapons" the antis want to ban are full auto and you can just walk in and buy them. This is from all the lies and innuendo the media has published over the years. Advertising lies and half truths works if it has media support.

I am so sick of hearing these people blather on about "FULLY AUTOMATIC", "ASSAULT RIFLES" and "WEAPONS OF WAR".

At least with "CLIPS" and "BULLETS", it's a pretty honest misunderstanding due mainly to Hollywood rather than willful, hyperbolic ignorance.

Good job! The biggest problem with almost any political dialog these days are people are too uninformed to have a solidly supported opinion on most topics! They go with shortcuts, such as relying on what "trusted source," feeds them. Thank you for taking the time to inform this guy.

That is the tactic of the anti politicians. Pump enough misinformation into the populace to make everyone think they are supporting real "feel good" legislation that will really cut down on crime and violence. Yes we MUST ban all those evil fully auto weapons, even though they have been insanely regulated since 1934. We must ban those cop killer bullets, even no police officer has been killed by one. We must ban high capacity magazines, but all major shootings used them anyway or just carried more lower capacity magazines. Misinformation is the antis platform, take that away and common sense takes over.

Just don't show him bump fire of an AR if he is concerned about automatic guns. Hopefully he gains a true understanding of the 2A over time which really should include full auto as well.
