An unconventional AR15 carbine, Need Scope,Trijicon?

I managed to get my new Three Gun Match carbine together and am now considering optic options.


I am seriously considering a Trijicon TR21R 1.25X4 with red triangle post.
Anybody have any experience with this scope or any of the other Trijicon scopes now being offered?

I plan to mount it to a GG&G cam lock Picatinney plate using Brownell aluminum rings. TIA

Have you looked at the TR21 with the German crosshair reticle? I haven't got to see that one myself; but I thought it looked like a nice rig - basically an Accupoint with a nice thin crosshair reticle so it doesn't obscure longer distance targets; but it has a fiber-optic/tritium illuminated center dot much like the Short Dot.

The whole package with a Larue mount was running $779 from Larue.

By the way, how did your upper receiver rail get so high? Is that a riser?

I actually like the German reticles and really like the old post and crosshair arrangement. but for three gun quick shooting I am thinking the plain post might suit my purposes a little better.

There is indeed a riser on the flat top.
It is the GG&G cam lock riser I mentioned.
Because the rifle is so front heavy, I have it on there right now to add rigidity to the upper receiver.

I have a Trijicon TR21R 1.25X4 with red triangle post on mine and it’s a great scope. Works especially well in low light situations as the red triangle lights up well with little or no light.
However, the 1.25X4 makes shots beyond 100 yards tough. So I guess it depends on what you want your AR to do. If it’s to shoot out beyond 200 yards, I would suggest looking at other scopes.

Thanks for the input, but that isn't quite the scope I am looking at.
The TR21R Accupoint is a conventional style telescope, 1.25 to 4 power variable adjust.

I have a TA01NSN ACOG straight four power scope that I routinely use out to 300 meters.

I believe the M17S did provide some subliminal inspiration for this build.
My rifle has a far better trigger, better scope platform and sights than offered on the M17S and is longer overall than the Bushmaster.
M17S was actually a pretty decent rifle that never really caught on.

My rifle has a Rock River two stage trigger on KNS stainless steel pins.
I used a steel Midwest Industries low profile gas block and this is recommended if you have a Bushmaster Dissapater carbine and want to install a free float tube or railed float handguard.

I bet the Trijicon scope would also be an excellent choice for an M17S if the owner would be willing to spend the money.

look into the ta-11 with bac, its what I have and as I understand it you see a ton of them at three gun matches

trijicons are great, i would just be cautious about using a post/triangle reticle at different distances, because if it doesnt have a bdc that is effective (especially if you reload) then you are going to have a difficult time "aiming high". if you have the money for it, then grab it! i know i would. im just saying its probably not the greatest scope for longer ranges, but for close stuff, its gotta be great.i don't own one, so i cant say from experience, but if the military extensively uses them, hey, they gotta be good for something!

Wow, that makes two of you in this thread with 4mm objective lenses. I'd have to recommend something larger; at least 15mm objective lens. Maybe you should check out the 1.25 - [TO] 4 x [BY] 24mm Accupoint as an alternative. Sorry, but now it seems everyone and their dog is mis-using this of late, and it's a pet peeve of mine. The word is "TO" between the upper and lower powers, and in writing, it's represented by a dash. The word is "BY" between the magnification and the objective lens size, and is represented by an x. The other way is not just another way; it is incorrect. Thank you all for your cooperation.

Onmilo, nice looking rifle. In your local 3-gun matches, what's the max rifle target range for the scenarios they set up? 50, 100, more?

100 meters maximum.

1.25X4 does not stand for a 4mm objective, that would be way too small to see through.

1.25X4 stands for variable magnification of 1 1/4 times normal vision to 4 times normal vision.
The objective diameter is 24 millimeter.

I have a straight 1X Trijicon Reflex ll with a 3mm amber dot.
It is excellent for indoor applications but washes out bad in bright sunlight, even with a polarizing filter in place.

I have tried out the Leupold CQB-T, The Aimpoint, and the EoTech Holosight and do not care for them.
