This turned out to be a great day !!!!!!
We just got back from a Deer hunt in Ohio and my son took my fathers Wingmaster 870 to hunt with. My Dad passed away just a month ago and we got the shotgun. My son killed his first buck (a nice eight point) Went back to the stand and killed a nice doe. He said Dad I could of killed deer all day , they just kept comming out of the woods right in front of me. He had his choice of 4 bucks. I hunted the same area that first day and saw nothing. Next day we traded places and my son let deer walk right by him , and me again nothing just like the other 3 hunters. It finally hit me that I should not have traded deer stands with my son. I should have traded for Pop's gun !!

Im working on pics.

I thought it was great that his gun He hunted with for years put the meat in the freezer. Having son do the trigger pulling made it that much sweeter.
Did not care that I got shut out this time around. The Buck is nice !!!!!!

Great story - thanks a bunch for sharing it with us.

I love this time of the year in the hunting forum, when everyone is talking about thier first buck, their most recent buck, or the one that got away.

Yeah... my dad would rather have had me pull the trigger than pull it himself any day of the week. When My son gets older, it'll be the same way with me.

Although, I do remember my dad getting pretty upset when we would go fishing and I would out catch him 3 to 1. But that was only when I got older

Sorry to hear about your lose. Sometimes we cannot explain why things turn out they way they do, but there is a reason for it. I am glad that your son will carry on the hunting tradition for years to come and teach his kids how to hunt.
