My son took this doe yesterday afternoon. My dad passed away in April, and we inherited all of his guns and love of hunting. Although my son has hunted before, this was his first kill. He was using a Winchester 30/30 that was left to my dad and then me by a dear old family and hunting friend. If I had killed a 200 inch B&C deer I could not have been more proud of it than I was this one. It was just the two of us out there, but I know my dad and old friends were looking down and smiling.

Sorry to hear about your father passing away.

That is a great picture and I appreciate you sharing the story.

You will wear that smile for weeks to come. Good job on the first deer great memory for you both.

It was about 30 yards and he shot a little high and broke the spine. Had to follow up with another shot. Neither was a gut shot. He is on cloud 9 as well.

Congratulations on your son's hunt. Your father obviously instilled some long-lasting, family values. :) Keep the tradition alive.
