I size and trim on a progressive then anneal. How long depends on the case, how hot your flame is and how close to the case you have it.
You don't want any "glow" or "dark red" case colors as you are over doing it. The first sign that you have gone too far is the flame color will turn from blue to orange.
This video shows cases being over annealed, note zero glow but the flame changes.
This video shows proper annealing. Flame remains blue through out the process, consistant color around the case and the head of the case is cool enough to be held right after annealing.
