Annoying Rant.

Well, sir. I don't know if we can help you here at Guns-B-Us. We have many .22 caliber pistols but we're all out of 22mm pistols. Try back next week.

I think the biggest point to remember is everything firearm related is a matter of opinion. What is best, most comfortable and enjoyable to you is someone else's worst nightmare. The only 2 things a fellow firearm enthusist agrees on are;

1 The 4 basic rules
2 The fundamentals of shooting

Other then that, it's all about your preference. Sometimes John Q. Gunbroker forgets that, as do us customers.

Go back to the store and ask him what he recommends if you are being stalked by ninjas. Include a few "when I was fighting the VC's in the jungle" to make it interesting.

Personally, I long for the time when we all had a little more patience with other people.

I see idiocy at its finest on a daily basis. We, as a species, are extremely fallible. Since I am a part of this particular species, I tend to be extremely aware of my own ability to sound like a moron on occasion.

There are guys at my gunshop that lack the knowledge that I seek. When they ask me if they can help me, I say no thanks. I then wait for the guys that I know are knowledgeable and they are the ones I deal with.

I have gotten "trapped" by the guys that like to talk tactical. I listen politely, ask no questions so the conversation ends quickly, and then I move on.

Let me jump in here since I'm the Shady guy:neener:

First of all I don't remember this conversation but I will not deny it went down the way TimboKhan says I’m an IN YOUR FACE east coast guy. Been that 38 years and it’s not changing anytime soon. I’m straight up 100% of the time. What’s on my mind comes out my mouth.
I’m new at Jensens. I’ve been helping since little Mike pulled a contact and went off to pay in the sandbox.
I was their number one ammo customer and in the store a lot. I would go in for a few cases and end up behind the counter helping out. Now I’m there a lot (It’s really cutting down on my shooting time) but I’m helping out a good guy. When I’m not at Jensens I’m teaching CCW , pistol classes and carbine class. I even teach long range stuff every now and then. It’s making me miss a lot of matches I would like to be at.

Anyway. I love cans. If someone is in the shop and I have time to bull**** I can’t help but talk about cans. Can sales have gone up in the store since I’ve been there since I do push them. I have guys that already have 3 or 4 ARs and come in for another one. I push them towards a can instead of another AR. Same with folks with pistols and bolt guns. I’m trying to make the world quitter one can at a time.
I didn’t read all the posts before writing this but for those of you that know me you know I shoot a lot and I can shoot way better than most (anyone that shoots as much as I do should be able to also I’m not special).

I don’t know why I was on an anti forum rant but just like all the gun store employee commando stories out try standing behind the counter of a very busy shop like we are and listen to all the **** thrown at us. It’s pretty funny. Lot’s of folks come and tell me about how they are scout snipers or work for BW or this or that all the time. I’m not the person to try and pull that **** on and will call them on it. I can't believe the amount of snipers that don't know the dope or wind holds out to 1k
When I get on the anti forum stuff I’m usually telling someone not to believe what they read and to go shoot and develop opinions of their own.

So here I am the shady guy…..I love that

Stop by Jensens and say hello. Tim I don’t know who you are but come back and say hello so I know who you are. If I pissed you off I think you need tougher skin bro. If I just irritated you come and shoot with me. Then you’ll want to buy a can:evil:

So now I'm off to the store to mess with someone else.
It's a weekend guys. Go shoot and don't be reading this crap too much

One more thing. The can on my AR has at least 50k through not 5k. I shoot a decent amount

So all you locals stop by and ask for me to say hello and get a can

I don't know if you are or not. I don't think it matters. Your post explains it all. Which way it explains it is still left to interpretation.
Personally, if I walk into a Ford dealership to buy an F-250 4x4 I don't particularly want to hear a long dissertation of why I should buy a Mustang simply because the salesman loves the one he drives.

You have to understand something about the internet to know why people see it that way. At first, a lot of what was on the internet was government stuff, a way to back up the system in case of nuclear holocaust. Inet one, which a lot of peopl here may have never seen, was mostly text based, and people used pseudonyms and hid from everyone, because they didn't want to let the government know what they were doing while they were hacking code.

The net has changed a lot since then. Knowledge has inmcreased greatly, and credible experts have appeared, and are separating the wheat from the chaff. But the net allows anyone with an opinion to post. It is the most free speech the world has ever witnessed. Truth is quickly proven, and lies are all but immediately shut down. However, the mannerisms in which this occurs has put a lot of people off from using the public forums to discuss anything.
They, simply put, are scared or embarrassed to post.

One other thing to take into consideration. Common sense dictates that hunting, stalking prey, and even using firearms in a tactical situation involves a lot of deception. For some people, it's simply easier to grasp that as a basic element of training than as a theory in total. So, much of what is taught from one generation to the next requires thought and inflection instead of mere wording to establish and ingraine a point. What is being said may not be as wrong as you would like to think. Just different. Some things may be better left unsaid.

More food for thought. No one is 100% right. Not even the guy who is.

Win71...It was me. Had to be. I'm the only new guy there.
Like I said I don't remember this exchange at all. I joke around a lot with all the customers. I push cans in a fun way (at least I think so) I get lots of laughs out of folks all day. Like I said stand behind the counter in a shop from 9AM to 7PM where you have folks waiting in their cars for us to open the doors first thig in the morning. It great we are so busy but it's also very hard being so busy all the time. We get a lot of keyboard commandos evey day. My first day on the job there full time I had a guy tell me Glocks are no good cause they melt. News to me. I spend a lot of time shooting and teaching and traing. I'm lucky to get a lot of training with a bunch of local contractors that are always trying to get me me to pull a contract myself. I help a lot of people pass the shooting quals for admin jobs going over to the sandbox also.
I try to have fun in the shop. I joke with folks all day. Seems like it got under someones skin. He says he had to be a prick but I don't think so cause I would remember someone being a prick to me in the store.
Like I said above come on in and introduce yourself.

Here I am. Mr Shady

Nope, didn't piss me off. Just annoyed me a little bit is all. Matter of fact, I actually said:

It wasn't that he was a bad guy, just that my annoyometer got lit up with the incessant supressor comments

This is a great example of how people make assumptions about others they interact with in real life, and the life those interpretations take when posted to the internet. I think this thread is finished.
