Well I'm in the middle of loading up some Berry's 158gr RN bullets and I'm seeing what may be an issue. If I seat the bullet to the max COL for this caliber, (1.590") the bullet seems to be seated to where the mouth of the rim is on the ogive of the bullet. I need to lengthen the loaded round to about 1.616 in order to get the crimp on the bearing surface. Is there any issue with this load as long as it fits the cylinder of the revolver?

Thanks again, Gary

You could call Berry's. That bullet is likely designed for .38spl.
I would seat one long and see if it chambers, you don't want the bullet protruding beyond the end of the cylinder.
How long is your brass ? I trim mine to 1.279"
Some .357's have short cylinders like my early Colt Trooper, S&W and Ruger are longer.
I taper crimp Plated bullets, and have never needed to crimp on the ogive, not saying that wouldn't work

Gosh I love this site. Thanks again for the replies. I checked the cylinder and its not an issue. Its a GP100 and I've got the clearance.

Jibjab, the Berry's site list the bullet under .38/.357 so I think its okay for my purpose. I'm loading them light so I'm hoping all will be well.
