Does anyone have a Remington 700 standard-sized barreled action in a varmint stock. I know someone selling a HS-Precision take-off for a good price. Problem is, he is extended family that lives in another state so I cant see how the stock looks before I buy it.

If you have a picture, please post it.

I just want to make sure it doesn't look to hideous before I buy it. My next barrel will be a varmint, but I have to shoot about 2000 rounds out of this one before I can justify that.

Thanks guys.

if it's a good deal, the stock fits you AND you are going to replace the barrel in a few thousand rounds, I'd just do it.

If it's ugly (and it probably won't be bad at all), it's temporary.

I'm sure someone will post a pic. good luck!

Its an HS take off from a Sendero... The one that comes stock on the rifle. I dont know the model number.

You will end up with a very free floated barrel. I don't think it would look bad at all.

Anybody have experience (preferably pictures). Just want to make sure it wont look too bad. I dont have the rifle to look "cool" but I want to keep it looking nice.

courtgreen: I know what the stock itself looks like, I am looking for a pick of a standard size 700 barrel in that particular stock.

That stock is cut for a varmint contour barrel. A standard size barrel would work, but would have a big gap between the barrel and stock. You could, of course, bed the barrel channel and then just open it up a bit to free float.

This is my rifle, but my barrel is a heavy varmint profile.

HSP pull offs go for around $200, although I have seen people pay more on ebay. Personally, after having had HSPs and Bell & Carlsons, I'd just get a new Bell & Carlson. Stocky's has them for around $200 brand new.

It's too bad that you can't check it out before you buy it. Some HSPs have a really fat palm swell and some don't. If it is the one with the fat palm swell, you're either going to love it or hate it.

;)Tony: Thanks for the help. Nice set up! I had been looking at B&C stocks, but this guys offered me an almost brand new HSP for $50.

Maybe Ill buy it, sell it on ebay, and put that toward a new B&C

For $50, I'd buy it because it would be stupid not to. Buy and use it. If you don't like it, you can get $200 for it, easily.
