well i did my seconds apple seed this weekend and drug along a friend for his first. i did worse this time than i did on my first appleseed but i had alot of equipment issues, first my scope started drifting down and left every time i shot so i had to ditch the scope half way through the day. then the irons on my 10/22 were shooting high so i had to bottom them out and had trouble seeing them they were so far down. then today i used a borrowed rifle (thanks alot hawkeye) to make up try and shoot a rifleman score.
now my scores were pretty bad this weekend with all the problems and switching rifles. but i was very happy with my groups they were all high and left but they were constant on every target except the first one which was standing (just a big group). but most of my 5 shot groups were about an inch and a half to 2 inches. and thats with raw elbows and a bad shoulder
i never got above 100 today and got a 135 yesterday(not great but im satisfied with all the issue that came up). if i had been using my own rifle i would have adjusted the sights but i decided not so since it wasnt mine.
now my point in posting this, guys do an appleseed it doesnt matter if your an expert or a new shooter. they will help you out and id put money down that they will shrink your group sizes. these are all great people and its important that each and everyone of us really knows what the second amendment and the revolutionary war means. everyone there made some new friends and many reunited with some old ones.
get out and do an appleseed, even if you dont own a rifle you can get up with the shoot boss and they can provide you with one if you make special arrangements most of the time.
go shoot, have fun, shrink your groups, make friends, and learn an important part of not only American history OUR history.
theres another shoot at Ramseur in december (12th and 13th i think) ill be there and i hope you will too
