another AWB sunset question?

Does anyone know if the gun manufacturers have any plans to either re-introduce currently banned articles or start anew?What would it benefit them to supply high capacity mags again,or bayonet lugs on rifles or "real" AK-47's.I mean they are still in business yes?We still buy there products don't we?Who's to say that the gun manufacturers & importers don't just continue on with the current production strategy?Maybe to keep the potential for lawsuits down by playing to the fears of the Anti's.
I mean really,who sues in America?Those who have a legitimate grievance & those who are too lazy to take personal responsibility.Right?
From a corporate standpoint wouldn't it make sense to NOT revert?
Before the flames fly I just want to add that while I hope it sunsets & that I can buy whatever the hell I want for my birthday(december)a small niggling part of me says that,whatever happens in september won't make a whole lot of difference.A paper victory if you will.

Heres what happens.

There are maybe 6 or 7 big manufactures of AR15 rifles.

If ONE of those manufactures starts putting the evil features back onto their rifles who do you think will start selling the most rifles? They will all follow suit.

Now with ak-47s its a much trickier proposition since you have to worry about 922. There is very little that the actual IMPORTERS can do with regards to what they can import. But, the companies that build AKs in THIS country will surely do the same as the AR manufactures. Probably in an even bigger way because they depend soley on civilian sales.

C_YEAGER,while I agree that that is what would make sense,I really wonder how the manufacturers feel.In other words is it enough to their benefit to"revert"to the pre-ban type.Are we just deluding ourselves into thinking that they will fall in line,completely,with our wishes?Or is there enough corporate fear of lawsuit or bad press to make the bean counters maintain the status quo?

You've got to realize that the main body of "assault weapons", the AR-15 series, are modular. The companies that manufacture these weapons, kept producing pre-ban versions of their upper receivers during the AWB as replacement parts for exsisting pre-ban rifles. They won't be reverting to another configuration, they'll just stop making the post-ban version of their rifles.

The real question will be whether or not companies like SIG or HK, who already have domestic production capability, will start producing versions of their AW.

I suspect the manufacturers won't make a big deal out of it, they'll just start making their rifles in "pre-ban" configuration again . . . or simply drop the "LE Only" restrictions and labels. And most will start shipping their guns with standard capacity (>10 rounds) magazines . . . at least to states that haven't enacted their own AWB. (I'm not so sure about Ruger and S&W shipping pistols and such with >10 rd magazines.)

It'll be intersting to see if Ruger ships with +10 mags since Bill Ruger said "no honest man needs more than 10 rounds."

Isn't it Rock River that is already advertising that if you buy a rifle now and the ban sunsets in September, then they will add your evil features on for free?

I think the full cap mags will be the first to start selling. I wouldn't be surprised if companies are making them now, and stock piling them, so that when the ban sunsets they can be the first to have theirs in store fronts.

The other stuff I'm not too sure about. And the only thing I would want (for my selection of firearms currently) is a top folding stock for my shotgun.

Don't forget...several states have implemented their own versions of the AWB...and those versions do NOT expire. Here in New York, even after Sept 14 I will only be able to possess pre-ban hi-cap mags. Better check your state laws.

Would be nice to gather up a list of these states.

Ruger might not start offering their guns with AWB features, but you can bet people will be able to buy the aftermarket. After all thats what people do to rugers longarms right? Buy the crap gun then change everything except the receiver.
