So I bought a new glock 19... it should be here tomorrow afternoon and I know it is somewhat stupid to want to do something to it before I even get it... but... I want a plug for the grip frame and I refuse to pay $12 shipping for a $6 plug so yeah... Lets say I don't want to go over the $40 mark on any one item other than the plug... What would you suggest I look into? I was looking at a captured titanium guide rod but I am not so sure that would really make any difference... Is there anything you would suggest I look into? Brands, websites to buy, anything... I don't need another magazine right now 2 15 rnd mags are plenty... you can barely find enough ammo to fill 2 anymore anyway.

I owned/carried a Glock 17 for 3 years before I sold it. GREAT gun, and I somewhat regret selling it. The only reason I got rid of it was because I bought a 1911 as a carry gun, a move I don't regret... BUT the Glock was a great piece to start out on, and I'll most likely own one again someday.

Honestly, a Glock doesn't need anything other than a good holster right out of the box, unless you're going to be shooting competition with one. Their beauty is in their simplicity. The 17, for me, felt "comfortable" in the hand and as a carry piece; I would guess a 19 would feel about the same.

When you say a plug, do you mean that little piece that goes behind the trigger to prevent AD/ND's? I personally would pass on one, but if you train rigorously with it, no reason to avoid one any more than one would avoid a thumb safety.

As far as holsters, I had an Uncle Mike's soft IWB holster that I carried in SOB, and also had a Kydex Paddle holster for hip carry. Both worked great, and the Tennifer finish resisted wear with both very well.

About the only mod I ever did was to melt some white crayon into the engravings to bring them out a little before I sold it.

Oh no it is the little black thing that goes into that hole on the bottom of the frame behind the magazine so dirt doesn't get up in there. I just hate only paying $7 for something online... Shipping is usually double that.

Congratulations! Good Luck with it.
I've had a 19 for 3 months and I'm very happy with it! Stock parts seems to be more than enough!
If money is a little tight, as it is for all of us right now, I would put it towards a holster like "Flea" said.
After that, good luck getting ammo, it can get expensive.

I wanted to get a Miami Classic II for it but I hate that $140 price tag lol. I just thought it would be a fairly good, dual purpose holster. I could carry it concealed once I get my permit and in the open when i dont... plus it seems better than wearing a gun on my belt for now.

Oh, ok...

My 17 came with a "plug" for that hole, but I bought mine used (it was a trade-in off-duty carry for a local LEO).

Take it from someone who wears suits for a living... shoulder holsters are best left to those who NEED them... I'll take a hip-holster every time.

I don't even know a good hip-holster... it is rediculous trying to find a holster that fits a glock 19 because EVERY holster seems to fit one lol. I thought "This will be easy" googled "Glock 19 Holsters" and they are just everywhere...

What would you recommend? I will look one up and see if I can find the plug on that site to avoid paying more in shipping than in parts.

Like I said, I had a Kydex paddle holster and I loved it for OWB carry. IWB, I used a soft nylon holster, I think it was Uncle Mikes... similar to this:

However, it fit a Glock 17 almost perfectly, and it would work well for a 19.

As to what works for you, you have to decide what you feel most comfortable with. If you want to hold off on ordering the "plug" until you order a holster, then wait until you get a permit and decide if IWB or OWB feels more "natural" and train appropriately. From experience, a good, "inexpensive" holster will run about $20-50 depending on style and brand. My current holster cost me $35 and is for IWB with the 1911. My Kydex holster was about the same. BUT, I've seen molded leather holsters go for $100 or more, so you get what you pay for.

I'm sitting here with a C-TAC IWB holding my G19. It seems pretty comfortable. I've been wearing it for about 4 hours, and my girlfriend hasn't noticed it under my shirt as I got dinner ready, took the dogs out, etc. I think I might have to get a C-TAC.
