Remington 125 grain semi jacketed hollow point + 9.5 grains of Unique. My alliant reloading guide list's this load at 1585 fps from a 5.6 inch barrel. I'm figuring 1500 from my 4 inch tracker. I fired these today, they are laser accurate, clean, and the recoil is not bad at all.:D The good news, I've got 2000 of these bullets on hand and plenty of Unique.:D I think I've found my load.

BTW, the pressure on this load, even at max, is only 33,000 psi. This gives plenty of margin for error, I like that. Even with an accidental scew-up, you'd probably still be safe. Max pressure on the 357 is 46,000.

Speer #13 lists the maximum load of 9.6grs of Unique behind their 125gr bullet at 1,345 fps from their 6" Model 19. This is probably a more realistic velocity for your load. If it shoots well the velocity isn't that important.

FYI 35,000 psi is the maximum allowable pressure for the .357 magnum. 46,000 was CUP's not PSI's. Different units of measurement.

Good point Steve C. There is a lot of difference in C.U.P. and P.S.I. It's something we need to keep an eye out for these days. We did not used to have to worry about it. :)

just use 18.5 of 296 win SPM primer, that will get some attention at the range! I use it all the time:fire:

I have some Remington 158's loaded with 16.6 grains of 296, thats a big boomer.:D Puts a grin on my face every time.:D

I've shot stiffer loads of Unique behind the 125, but it was in my Highway Patrolman. Way hot, and now that I have heavier calibers, that load is retired. 'Bout all you'd want out of a .357

My standard load for .357 125 gr is 9.4 gr of Unique. Good accuracy and manageable recoil.
