Another Need A Holster Thread...

Recently picked up a pistol that is compatible with 1911 commander (4.25") holsters.

I am looking for an off the shelf holster. OWB, scabbard/pancake. Just plain Jane and in stock. I will order custom leather if I take to the pistol.

Thing is, I want a leather, light bearing holster for a commander 1911. I'd prefer compatible with a TLR-7, but not married to it. I already have a holster for it without the light.

There are very few, even custom leather holster options for - concealment, Commander size pistol, with a mounted light. It's not a category I search for often, but I'm a long time 1911 guy and follow the holster world with some interest. I think it's unlikely you'll find anything off the shelf unless you're looking for a duty holster.

Reason - Commanders with rails are not that common and those that are available haven't been around long, in addition, concealment leather holsters for guns with mounted lights are also not common. You have a double whammy going against you.

Could you clarify what "a pistol that is compatible with 1911 Commander holsters" means? Is it a 1911 Commander or some other gun that is kind of like a 1911 Commander?

I'll look around, but I'd not hold my breath.

The other thing going against you - while the TLR-7 is probably one of the more common lights, there are an awful lot of lights available, and they change all the time. For a holster manufacturer to have a product available, on the shelf, for such a rapidly changing product won't be likely.

I usually love the I Need A Holster threads, because they give me an excuse to go look at all the neat holsters out there. That said, I'm coming up short on this one.

Gun is a Wilson Combat Experior double stack commander in 9mm.

Wilson claims it fits commander holsters. So far its fit the ones I have for without a light. Was just seeing if I could find a light bearing leather for now. If I like it and plan to commit to it then I will upgrade.

There is not a lot of info on them in the wild. I think the EDC-X9 got all the press. So once I put it through its paces, I plan on doing my first amateur gun review here in the autoloader forum.

Edit to add: They show models for the TLR-3 and TLR-6, but not the TLR-7. I don't know enough about these lights to know if one would be compatible with another.
