Hello All,
we just came across an older pistol in my father in laws closet & would like some help identifying its prod. year & fair market value.
It is Nickel & has a 4 " barrell.....fixed sites.
Barrel says 38 S.&W. SPECIAL CTG. Serial # is on butt of handle
2D76524 He was in the Air Force during Korea.....if that helps.

Thanks for any help

Open the cylinder and look at the frame under the crane. There should be a model number, probably with a dash and a second number. That will positively identify the gun, as S&W used that serial range for several models.

2D76524 was made in late 1977; it would have no connection with your father-in-law's military service.

For a Model 10, Blue Book of Gun Values, 29th ed., has the following values;

100%---$500 (NIB)
98%---$345
95%---$255
90%---$195
80%---$140
70%---$120
60%---$100
Add $12 for nickle finish (disc. 1991, 4 in. barrel only)

Hope this helps........ Al
