I found this Vortex mount for a 1911 that will accept their razor red dot. Very cool way of mounting a red dot. I had a Kimber with a base that slid into the sight slot (Pic below)(Still have the base). It worked fine, but this looks sleeker. I have a 1911 with the Weigand frame mount, and it works great, but is bulky.

It lists Commander, Government, etc, which of course are just sizes, and doesn't mention a brand of 1911. I wonder what cut it fits? I wouldn't mind putting one on a S&W 1911 in 9MM. I wonder what cut S&W uses. Their own? Colts? Kimbers?

I'm just full of questions today. :)

Likely not. It appears it's cut for the Colt G.I. dovetail and S&W has their own "Novakesque" rear cut. Not a true Novak and is likely a S&W proprietary cut (for some dumb reason). I believe your rear cut is 74° x .435". But then if you go to the included link it indicates both Colt and S&W use "genuine" Novaks. Whatever that means. I wouldn't trust it. I'd contact Vortex. They're usually quick to reply. https://www.novaksights.com/Content.aspx?PAGE="Sights 101"
