Another Ruger Contest

I don't see any front sights. That pretty much limits it to being another bolt gun, probably a knockoff of the M77.

Yawn.

Double yawner.
Got to go to Facebook to see the hints? Ain't gonna happen.
Something more Ruger will dangle in front of us that won't be on the shelf for a year or more.

Not playing either game.
:cuss: :cuss: :cuss: :cuss:

Actually Ruger isn't releasing what it is until they have already shipped them to distributors and stores. So whatever it is already in the pipe line. They've been doing that for some time. Where have you been?

Huh, well at least it's pretty cheap, has an MSRP of $749. Maybe street price similar to the M&P sport, without having to give up the FA and dust cover.

Another low-end DI AR. There's not many of those around.

What do you guys think the street price will be?

$650, $599 on sale. Really a pretty good deal for something that comes with rear sight and mag. As popular as the M&P sports are, I bet these will do well.

I wish I had the money and know-how to start my own gun manufacturing outfit. Of course, it would be inevitably short lived since what I think are cool gun ideas appeal to only me and a dozen other people worldwide.

But, we'd make some some interesting stuff and make a good 50 people happy before having to declare bankruptcy :D

That sounds pretty good. I just don't know how this product is different than the legions of cheap ARs that are already available.

I'm guessing a .223 based on the American that takes AR mags, like the Mossberg MVP.

I doubt that'll ever happen. They are invested in their own proprietary mags. If they were going to do something with an AR mag, they would have seized the opportunity with the Scout that was just released.

A full feature AR with the Ruger name at a street price in the $600+ range is very attractive.

Yeah, they'll sell a LOT of those. In the next rush. AR sales are pretty flat right now.

Why on earth did Ruger waste their time with that last survey?

What makes you think they did waste their time? Perhaps the people spoke and this is what the people wanted.

Were it me, I'd have loved to have seen a lever gun based on their old design but in .357mag with a 10 round magazine, FO sights, and weaver or 1913 rail on top. But me and the other two guys who would have bought that, is not nearly as broad as the customer base for an inexpensive AR.

PSA is still selling a ton of ARs, the S&W sporter is still popular and the prices on ARs are falling which makes them very tempting. This is a great move on Ruger's part to generate sales in an otherwise slow market. I mean, people will buy it because it is a Ruger, and an AR and a good price and because Ruger has good customer service.
