Another scope going back.

Leupold has sold a lot of scopes, especially from the 1970s to today. Even if a tiny percentage each year have a problem that's still a lot of scopes coming in, they may not be just broken scopes either could be for cleaning or any custom work they may do.

Patience is not one of my virtues, particularly in this case, with a company like Leupolds and its reputation. It's been a month since I've shipped the scope..3 weeks since they claimed to have received it. The dude told me 5 weeks. The only communication I've gotten from them was the email that they got it..while I was on the phone with them. Not a peep since.

Still..I'll give them their two more weeks...before I blow my top...
Still think it's just plain outrageous it would take them so long to even look at it...and no way can they be that busy..unless they have so many returns..that perhaps their legendary reputation is false...

Either way..they have already failed in epic misery as far as service goes. Vortex stakes them big time I'd this department.

More to follow as it develops....
I called them they told me that particular scope was not a high demand scope, so they were not sure when more would be produced. I think that was a pretty poor answer.

This is actually the second time I've dealt with Leupold warrenty. The first time was a Redfield product however. It was an RDS with an attached laser sight. The Red dot worked fine, but the laser adjustments seized up, so I sent it back. They had sold the Redfield name since I had bought this scope, but they told me it's covered, but they couldnt/wouldn't fix it and were going to replace it with a Leupold equivalent.

It took them 9 MONTHS to send the replacement.

I figured since this was a name they no longer owned, and a scope they no longer made..they put these things on their back burned/last priority list.

So..now this..a real Leupold product. I'll give them the required two more weeks. Somehow, that little voice in the back on my head is telling me..don't expect to hear anything....

But alas..we will see.

So far..I give 5 negative stars for Leupold service.

I got a tracking number from Leupold. No explanation or description of what they found in the email, no notes in my Leupold account.

Guess I have to wait and see if they put any notes in with the scope. 4 weeks turn around (5 in reality..since it took them a week to enter it into their system after they received it).

More to follow..says it will be here iron the 17th (Sunday..so really, Monday)

Actually got the scope back today..which is a little surprising because it's Sunday...

But anyway..a very simple note inside the box. All it says it the adjustments were Reworked adjustment
Reworked objective assembly
Compete internal inspection.

Nothing saying what was busted...

Pretty much Same thing i got lol. I should be able to get out and shoot sometime in the next week or two, well see...... Actually maybe I'll put it on my S20. You actually have to work to shoot a group larger than a half inch with that thing....

Th
Well, its fixed. Works very well. Shot the box, repeated it. Shot out to 600, then back to 100, then back out again. Repeated perfectly.
Right on!
I wonder if the scopes are close enough that they can use the newer erector assembly in them

Reworked..whatever that means
Usually when I say it, means I banged it back straight again..... Or straightish.......

I would assume they did something similar. Just with more opticality

Or as one of my electrician friends would sometimes joke when you brought them in to fix something simple.
Perhaps there's a button (reset, breaker, etc) to put the magic smoke back in the box!

All kidding aside, if they got it working I'll be happy.

So i have another scope going back for repair (well replacement, because who actually fixes anything).
This time its a Vx-3hd, which I honestly think was bad from the get go, but slowly got worse untill it was obvious it wasnt just riding on a marginally accurate rifle.

I have had problems with a couple of Leupolds recently. The only ones which have always been good are the little VARI X 3 1.5 -4 and 5 scopes. I don't think the company is what it used to be.

That said I have discovered these, they work well with AR 's The most expensive of them was $ 93 including shipping. They are quality scopes that have never let me down.

IMO Leupold has always made good scope, and they continue to make good scopes, but their reputation (especially on the lower end, which i consider the VX3s to be the top of) have never been as good as they are sometimes made out to be....again IMO.....

Ive seen a couple of post around the net from folks quite happy with Spina Optics, ive personally never used one. I bought a Feyachi 1-4x20 a while back that did just fine on my .458WM Ruger American, and ive had quite a few other cheap scopes that have done just fine.

It finally got here Close to 10 months later, I finally received my replacement for my M8 2X it's a FX-II 4X28. View attachment 1175714We'll see how it works. Seems pretty big, just glad it got here finally. Yay!
Congratulations ! now is the time to sell it, it's unused and in the box. I been selling my Leupold scopes when they have been replaced, owning them is too much hassle.

I just bought another new Spina scope. This one has everything, First Focal Plane, Glass etched reticle, Adjustable parallax, About $145 USD shipped.

You come across like a Spina sales person.......and a Leupold hater.

Leupold may not be some folks cup of tea, but they make a wide variety of scopes, stand behind them, and are still in business after all these years. Can't be that bad.

Spina may very well make a decent product for the price for all I know, but a cheap ($150) scope with a ton of features scrimps somewhere. Depends on what you want. Time will tell about quality and customer service.
