Another sight question

I bought a used sporter stock for a 03 springfield I have. Wanted to refinish it and make a good shooter better and retain open sights. Here's the issue. The sights were fine on the cut down 03 stock but it looks like a trap gun on this new stock. The tang of the action would need to be raised about 1" to make it work and that cannot be done.If I lower the front sight and raise the rear would I be able to make it shoot accurately or am I screwed. Spoze I could put a scope on if I have to? Thanks Ken in Oregon
