Well I did it again. Went to my local gun shop and a S&W 681 caught my eye. Ended up buying it. It has a 4 inch barrel, original grips and is around 97%. Nice and tight lock up with no end shake. Picked it up for $225. Scored another pre-lock S&W.:)

Not bad at all. I stayed away from these guns after the 686 plus 7 shot versions came out but I have noticed these guns have been increasing in price maybe because the lock on the newer S&Ws has come out.

first revo

The 4" 681 was the first revolver I ever bought and it is still my favorite for plinking. I've learned to compensate low left and can bust clay pigeons at 25 yds with great regularity off hand. (great for me, anyway:) ) It is a well ballanced gun that my wife and kids like to shoot as well. My 6" 686 is a fine gun but the extra length is not as naturally pointing in my hands. The 681 is our HD choice as well. Paid 150 for it about 6 yrs ago and didn't realize what a good deal I got or how it would become such a favorite. I hope you enjoy yours as well.

Geez whay cant I find a gunshop that does not own a copy of the blue book of gun values. It seems all the gun shops around here have a copy and they never price a revolver below what it says there, and usually 10-15% above.

Thst shop must have given the guy who traded it like $125 for it.;)

I can picture the owner paying that.
