Another Walmart Ammo thread

But this one is good! My walmart is overflowing with 9mm, 38, 357, 44 mag, 30 cal of your choice, 223 and even 380! I mean literally they dont have enough room on the shelves for all of it. The only thing that still sells out is .45 but that could be my fault... :)

I'm still hoping that we will see $150 for 1k rounds of 7.62x39...

One can dream...

Its been several weeks since my last Wally World visit. They were still a bit skimpy in ammo selection. Maybe they've caught up with your store. I'll stop in next time I'm close. I'm behind on my range trips this year!

I've been able to find 9mm, .223, .38 Special and .40 cal at my local Walmart for the last couple of months (without having to meet the trucks at 1am).
 
Yep, mine is back to its near normal state. With the exception of prices. Online prices are coming back down, especially for 7.62x39, but I hate to pay $22 for a bulk pack of 22 ammo.
 
I think the levels differ by location. One WW near me carries no reloading equipment and seems to have little pistol ammo. Another equally distant the other way, carries reloading equipment, a larger selection of guns, and has lots of ammo.............prices looked reasonable as well.........things are looking up!
 
Not really newsworthy, most walmarts I have been have pretty every caliber now. HPs are a little harder to come by, they may only have in a couple calibers at a time. Unless you need to buy ammo in small quanites its pretty much a waste of time to shop shop at walmart for ammo now, as pretty much everything is cheaper online. Only exception is bulk 22lr which sometimes can do slightly better on, depending shipping vs local sales tax.
 
Ammo is plentiful for me as well here in IL. Carry many brands, many calibers, and as noted, I even see BOXES of 380. Thought about buying some even though I don't have a 380 just to have it....
 
I stopped in one of the local WalMarts earlier this week and they actually had Remington FMJ .380 for $18.50 for a box of 50. They only had 4 boxes left so I bought two of them.
Stopped in Academy yesterday and they had several boxes of WWB & Monarch .380 on the shelf.
Both places had plenty of most of the other calibers.

Bought a 250 case of .45 from the College Drive Wally World in Suffolk...$84.97
Plenty of other calibers, less .32, .380 and .38. Lots of 9mm and .223

Bad:uhoh:
No .45 or .32 at Jefferson Ave Wally World in Newport News...but 9mm is cheaper than Dicks....but Dicks recently had .223 Remington on sale for $6.97 a box

Gloucester Wally World zero balance on .32 and .45....haven't seen any in over a year.

Now the question...what is it with .40? Every Wally World I've been in the Tidewater area has tons....even during the winter hard times.

Same here. .40 is always plentiful
 
On pistol ammo they are ok, on rifle ammo I find I can do better elsewhere. Last year .40 cents a round for 5.56 was a killer deal, this year not so much.

My local store can usualy match them on .45acp, so I go to the local guys.

Walmart is good for .22LR and .40.
 
All places that sell ammo or guns best rule is to ask. The Wal-mart in Sevierville, TN doesn't have ammo in their glass case due to smash and grabs during remodeling (what the clerk told me) ,but the counter space under lock and key has the treasures. Since they couldn't seem to sell any 3.5 #5 turkey loads I was glad to take them off their hands at their price (IIRC $13) and a large box of federal semi auto 22 for $13. They still have the silly rule of 6 per person but oh well.
 
During the recent ammo shortage, Wally World didn't try to rape us on prices like some of the smaller shops. I saw the owner of a local shop buying all the ammo he could at Wally World and saw the same ammo in his shop at a 100% mark up. I don't do business with him any more. I am glad supply is starting to catch up with demand and prices are starting to ease.
 
Ive heard from a wal-mart empoyee that they soon will no longer sell ammo. They already stopped selling guns a few years back. He said Wally world wants to not have anything to do with guns at some point.

Is this all Wallmart's or just some?

Also, does anyone know how to figure out if Wallmart stocks ammo/guns without going there. Their website doesn't say anything. And calling is useless (if you can get through to someone, they are the cheapest employee Wallmart could possibly find and they act like it.)
 
The Wally World here had plenty of what they had, but were very sparse in selection. But, I don't check on a regular basis, and it could just have been the end of the stock cycle before they reloaded.
 
They are remodeling the WM in KIlgore, TX. They have put up a locked display for all of the ammo. I haven't seen it yet to determine how full it is but it seems like they are doing it to cut down on the necessity of having a clerk in the area at all times just to say, "No, we don't have any xxx caliber." Kind of what you see is what you get.
 
Thats the frustrating part. Unless I buy online, the local shops are still more expensive then Walmart. I would rather spend my money with them but not when its $10 more per box of 100 rounds of 9mm... I dont even want to talk about anything in .45.

Its still good for us. Hopefully this means that the supply is catching up with demand. Eventually we should see the prices start to come down as well. Probably never see the bulk .22 for $12 per box but should be better then $20.

Our Walmart has an abundance of everything but mouse gun ammo. And, they still sell rifles and shotguns.
