Me again, trying to determine the next place my hard earned dollars should go. My collection now includes:

1. AK-47
2. Remington 870
3. Remington 1100
4. Ruger GP-100
5. Ruger LCR
6. Savage .308 Bolt Action
7. Glock 19
8. Ruger 10/22
9. Ruger 22/45

The guns I have been drooling over for a while include:

1. Ruger SR1911
2. Marlin 1894 .357 Lever Action
3. AR-15
4. Kel-Tec 9mm or .223 Carbine

So, considering the collection, what would be your next purchase and why? Or, what do you see as the biggest hole in the collection?

what's missing

I like what you already have, and most folks would be happy with nothing added.

However, the thing that's missing is a 1911 in 45acp. And, there are no S&W toys in there. You may want to consider a S&W 1911, although, I do like the Ruger 1911. Also, you certainly need a AR15 (223) M4 style.

It's great to have a toy for any occasion.

You need something older like a nice used Mauser custom off a previously owned rack :)

Although, I have my eye on a Keltec too :)

So, two votes for a 1911, one for a Kel-Tec, and one for an AR. I guess nobody likes the lever action Marlins. Just as well since their production is currently on hiatus.

-AR-15
-1911 in .45 ACP
-Lever gun (go with a Marlin 336 or 1895)
-single-action revolver
-.308 Main battle Rifle of some sort
-Break-action shotgun
And of course, you need some NFA toys, but now I'm just trying to spend as much of your money as possible :neener:

Appreciate all the responses. I should add that I mostly just target shoot, and don't hunt anything larger than a whitetail, so some of those big bore guns would cost too much for me to spend a day at the range with. That's why I was looking at the .357 lever gun. Is there any reason other than hunting large game to get a large caliber rifle?

When you say target shoot, do you mean from a bench for small size or do you mean more reactive type targets? If you want a bench type rifle, there are many good options from most of the big names. It sounds though like you enjoy plinking/reactive target shooting from the options listed. I think a S&W 15-22 would be a good fit. While the 10-22 can do a lot, I have had no luck with reliable higher capacity mags so it sticks as a 10 shot for me. Having the same controls as the AR pattern rifles is nice as well. I'll say I think mine is the most fun firearm I own. A nice pistol caliber carbine/lever gun would be fun too.

"So... you have a solid collection of generic guns, and now you want us to tell you what OTHER generic gun to get next?"

I'm a boring person, what do you want from me?

"When you say target shoot, do you mean from a bench for small size or do you mean more reactive type targets?"

So far it's only been paper targets, but I just joined a new outdoor range that allows for reactive targets. Really looking forward to that.

From my perspective it looks like you have a lot of paired sets there so I would say:

An AR to go with the AK
An XD or XDm to go with the Glock
An AR-10 to go with the .308 bolt
or maybe something in .50 BMG

You need a 1911 in that collection. You might also want to consider a battle rifle. Might I suggest the most excellent M1 Garand? It even goes with the 1911!

My 2-cents, anyway.
.

I'd agree with the above that something out of the ordinary is definitely in your future. NFA?

How about an AR-15 that takes Glock magazines? Build one if Lone Wolf ever starts selling their lowers, or buy an Olympic. It's just a range gun right?

The two things that jump out to me as gaping holes are the the lack or a 1911 and the lack of an AR-15.

The .357 lever gun is cool and fun (I like shooting them) but it doesn't really offer any capability you don't have. .357 is also more expensive for a PCC than a 9mm would be. The same might be said for a 1911. A Ruger 1911 wont really do anything you can't do with that G19. That said every one should have a 1911. .45 prices will make it more expensive to shoot than your 9mm glock. The AR seems to offer something that you don't have more than the others.

I like and own the kel tec sub 2k. Its cheap. Its fun. 9mm is cheap to shoot and it takes the same mags as your glock. I love mine as a companion to my glock. That said, I'd rather have a good AR if I could only have one. The sub 2k is cheap enough that you can pick one up later. Some people are saying they are hard to find right now which means prices are probably higher than if you waited. Right now the market for ARs is soft and good deals can be had. You can pick up a NIB colt for $900 or so. Good used deals seem to be around as well.

Thus I'd get the AR (assuming it is a quality AR). Next I'd get a 1911. Then the lever gun or a sub 2k based on which you think will be more fun. Pistol caliber carbines are really just for fun guns to me.

I notice you like a lever action and made no mention to the Savage 99
I was not really looking for one but ended up with one. i would never have believed how nice it would handle. Comes up like a good shotgun and puts the rounds where it counts for deer.
It is in .300 Savage which is all really need. I have the Savage HB for the long range stuff.
Just some thoughts for the next one.
I see the LCR has wondered off into the sunset. I like my SW 640

I second the lever gun.
Don't forgot a mosin nagant with 880 rounds of surplus ammo for the zombie attack though.
