My next rifle is probably going to be a Ruger M-77 Mk. II chambered in .375H&H, followed by a Kel Tec RFB, Marlin 1895SBL, MSAR 7.62x39 AUG clone, and a Winchester 1895 chambered in .30-06. What is the next item, or items (rifles only) on your list?

:)

its going to be an arsenal 107cr in 7.62x39, then one the paperwork is done will be turned into an sbr by fuller, or red jacket..waiting is the hardest part.. there are a couple others on the list. that is the priority though.

the most imminent is the 700 sendero in 264 win mag i ordered and am waiting on its arrival. after that, i will probably get a ruger in 375 rcm, and then i'll switch over to handguns for awhile.

don't forget accessories like scopes, etc!

True, there are several accessories on my list as well, but i'd rather hear about the more interesting bits...the rifles.

Thanks for sharing.

I want one of these real bad in 6.8spc. I won't do the ACOG though, probably an Aimpoint.

I would like a Barrett 98B (338 Lapua).

BTW Maverick, you may want to look at the 375 Ruger in the Ruger African or Alaskan. The 375 H&H is nice, but the M77 Magnum is quite a beast at around 10 pounds. Plus the recoil pad in thin, hard and just about useless. It is a beautiful gun though.

From a performance standpoint, the African and especially the Alaskan have a lot going for them. The Alaskan is much lighter, uses aluminum bedding blocks, has a free floated barrel, and a shorter bolt stroke. The stock and recoil pad do an outstanding job of taming the recoil. Mine is quite accrurate. Is not a looker like the 77 Magnum though.

Thanks for the suggestion, but...my requirements for the rifle were/are (roughly in this order):

1. CRF action
2. Classic large game (African) cartridge (preferably low pressure)
3. Barrel band sling swivel stud
4. Walnut stock (preferably well figured with cut checkering)
5. Bright blued action
6. Affordable

The Hawkeye African or Alaskan may be a great rifle (and sure is cheaper), but it doesn't fill one of the main prerequisites...the old cartridge. I know it doesn't make a darn bit of difference (and the .375Ruger is better in a few respects), but I just like the old cartridge, and honestly would prefer a .416Rigby if I could afford to shoot it, and find a decent priced rifle in that chambering. It may come as a surprise, but the last requirement is the hardest to fill. :uhoh: I think I have found a nice used rifle that will fit the bill without breaking the bank, and it looks to be in typical used magnum condition...shot once...it hurt...sold to the highest bidder.

:)

I've been lusting after a shootable trapdoor springfield for some time now.

Also looking for a WWI-era 1911 to match my 1918 Erfurt Luger

As far as modern rifles, either a Remington ACR, or a custom built precision/hunting rifle in 30-06 or .270. Leaning towards a Savage action, but my smith is a genius with Remington 700s.

Maybe a Ruger Mini-30. I've been wanting a simple rugged knock-around rifle in 7.62x39. I've just recently decided that I like them. Price is still a little high for how I'd probably use it. Maybe a paratrooper SKS would work too.

I just recently decided to take the mini-30 off the list, as prices are a little high and all they make is SS in 7.62x39 now. I have tentatively decided to go with the new MSAR that is scheduled to be coming out in that chambering. It is more expensive, but IMO worth it.

:)

I want a Remington 700 CDL in 300 Win Mag.

Be able to take anything on the continent, and go long if I want. (OMG and before you even start on what else can do the same or better, this is what I want based on performance, cost, availability and reloading potential)

I got the inside 300 yards pretty well covered. I want something that can reach out and touch. Kind of the ceiling to my rifle collection.

Well it may sound hard to believe but with the 5.56 AR I built a few months ago I'm pretty set now. Don't "expect" to get any more rifles. ;)

LOL, had to read that twice, I laughed...I pointed...I laughed some more.

I have decided not to buy any more rifles of any kind for the rest of the year...unless: I find something I like, get a good deal, or pretty much if the fun store is open. Next year my planned "resolution" is to buy more guns. :D

Already ordering parts for the next build....a 338-06! Bolt action, 24" barrel, haven't decided if its going to be a stainless synthetic or a blued and wood.

I have a while to ponder it though....still waiting on parts for the current build, which is more of an in-depth modification than an out and out build.

Already ordering parts for the next build...
Haven't even finished the last/current one yet, already starting the next...sounds like me, but my current build is not a rifle...but it is a gun of sorts. FWIW, I would go with blue/wood (depending upon the action) as the last was SS/syn., right?

:)

Hello friends and neighbors // The right price/ accessories will tell.

In mind are:
Marlin lever in .357 to go with my .357 revolver.
M1 Garand
Marlin/Ruger/Other .22 bolt action or semi auto(several nephews and nieces to get started)

Used, I love to pay 60% for a firearm that still has 80-90%(or more) of its life left. Although it is getting harder to pull off everyday.

Price rules, I'm tight fisted and gettin tighter.

Right you are, Mav.
If I can get one of the new walnut stocks that incorporates a bedded aluminum block, then wood it tis!

I really do want to make it, deeeeeep, dark, old world blue nestled in an oil rubbed, but sealed, walnut stock with some mineral streaking and plenty of fiddle back!

Now...back to reality!

Yep, that's the one...just don't make it a Savage (not that it is bad...just ugly).

:)

You have heard...beauty is in the eye of the beholder...and I'm the one be holding her!

Wait till you see the latest Savage! It is a far, far cry from what I call the 'traditional' rifle...wood and blue, but I put it together for a low maintenance(with respect to the elements), any time, any place hunting rifle.

Matter of fact, the action will more than likely be a Savage....I can get a long action, detachable magazine, standard shank action direct from Savage, but they are offered in stainless only.

May have to use one of my Commercial Mauser actions I have been keeping for such a project!
