He made a deal and plead guilty to one charge of conspiracy to commit racketeering.

The 5 year sentence if for that guilty charge.

As part of his deal, all the other charges were dropped.
So, he is not doing any time for accepting bribes and for arraigning the importation of machine guns being supplied by an Islamic terrorist group.

His voter base (progressives and Chinese immigrants living in San Francisco) still believes that he was set up by the FBI and the NRA.

Remember he was being groomed to be the next CA Governor by the CA Democrat Party. So, he still has a lot of support from them.

Because of all that, odds are within the next 10 years, he may be running for political office again in CA.

Events like this convince me that Hillary could be indicted, arrested and sentenced, serving her first week in prison and still win the presidency. There are a lot of dumb sheeple out there who just don't care what their elected leaders do, they just push that same button, over and over. Makes me physically ill that this is how our nation elects leaders.

Exactly. You'd think living in the greatest Constitutional Republic in history, Americans would pride themselves, just a bit, on educating themselves about the scumbag, hypocrite criminals they elect to public office as their servants. And I am not talking just liberals and progressive statists. Just as many conservatives are subhuman, sociopath criminals, the entire system had a break down somewhere along the line. Our system is the best, by far, but our implementation of our system sucks these days.

Vaupet, you hit the nail on the head. Not a hard and fast rule, but a general observation: The average person who wants gun control does so out of ignorance of the subject. The average politician who wants gun control does so out of fear of his constituents.
