So...now that the Democrats have both houses, the primary anti-gun congresspeople have been re-elected, and a virulent anti-gun ownership lady is Speaker of the House, what can we expect...and what can we do? IMHO:

1. The Assault Weapons Ban will be reintroduced...greatly expanded.
2. The right to possess pistols will be highly limited.
3. Registration will be expanded and made tougher...higher penalties, possibly annual fees per gun.
4. High taxes on firearm sales, ammunition, and reloading components
5. Firearms newly deemed to be unacceptable, despite being registered, will be confiscated for destruction without compensation. (Remember what happened in California six months after folks duly registered their M1 Carbines and AR15s?)
6. The Kennedy/Kerry Bill to outlaw rifles with cartridges strong enough to penetrate existing police vests will be reintroduced. (What was that...anything more powerful that a .30-30?)
7. Pressure to restrict/prohibit internet gun sales and gun shows.

Folks, we HAVE to get more involved in politics...let your elected congressmen know where you stand...organize...support the NRA, the 2nd Amendment Foundation, and other prominent pro-gun groups, with both money and personal effort. Invite non-shooters to go with you to the range. Fight efforts to do away with formal .22 target shooting in high schools, the Boy and Girl Scouts, and summer camps.

Otherwise, you might just as well pack up your firearms and call the police to pick them up now.:banghead:

The .30-30 was just an example Kennedy tossed out as a cartridge he wanted to ban. Taking into consideration the fact that many concealment vests provide a relatively low to moderate level of protection, this bill would have banned essentially all rifles.

Ammo, the dems will take a run at ammo. Their "advisors" will tell speaker pelosi that without ammo most guns will eventually be useless. Also the dems will not seem as antigun as Americans are too stupid to recognize the truth:evil: Joe

Here's most likely what will happen next, actually I will go out on a limb and gaurantee this happens next.

15 more threads just like this one will be created before 6pm.

Here's what I suggest a moderator do: Create a Doom & Gloom category. Then I can keep track of them all.

And you can count on Bush to sign every one of these measures into law. :cuss:
