Anti-gun senator victim of carjacking

Something similar happened in Ohio when the state senate was debating CCW. A anti CCW senator was walking home and got followed. He got jumped and roughed up pretty bad. Only thing with him is he wish he had voted the other way on the bill.

So it changed him.

Look and Elizabeth Dole. She was a huge anti gun congress woman, then Colt or Ruger ( cant remember which) invited her into their factory and gave her some basic safety stuff and she changed into one of the biggest anti-gun control politicians we have. She is now for gun education not gun control.

I've seen anti-gun people change to pro-gun when crime hits them.

I've also seen them get even more anti-gun when crime hits them.

It seems to be a 50-50 coin flip.

It just depends on how they take the ordeal. And half the time they are un-educated and are just spouting off stats and "facts" they hear.

It seems as though he's not so anti-gun afterall. Apparently, he is pro-gun and even has his own which he carries with him to protect himself and his family - he just doesn't believe in your right to do the same.
Oakland police say a gun-wielding man has robbed California Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata of his government-issue car.
The Oakland Democrat was not harmed in the Saturday afternoon carjacking. Perata's spokeswoman says he got out of the car when the robber tapped on the window of his red Dodge Charger with a gun. The senator was waiting at a red light at 51st Street and Shattuck Avenue in North Oakland at about 1:45 p.m.
Police say a second man drove the robber to the intersection in a two-door gold Chevrolet Camaro that also was stolen.

We have are answer...

On KTVU TV, Perata said:

"There are just too many d@mn guns out there..." --> This leopard isn't changing its spots.

Look for him to sponsor a whole bunch more gun control given this incident that affected him.

I'm sure the thugs that attacked him will gladly surrender their guns once he supports more anti-gun laws.

Afterall, they already stole two cars, committed a carjacking, and look like nice decent law abiding folks.

WHY does the tax-payer support HIS car.....not a "green' vehicle but rather a fancy expensive dodge charger with 22" rims..PIGS at the trough . jacked..he has been doing it to us for a l o n g time. sorry to rant, but on the taxpayers tab, he ought to be driving a government compact or midsize or indeed, buy it himself ( WE certainly subsidize him enough ).
flip side....now he will insist he NEEDS a driver....of course WE will pay for the state trooper. It just doesn't end..........

+1 2sigs..govt auto, give them a corvair after we run out of ramblers and pinto's

That's Perata, for sure. He's an extremely left wing Democrat and a raving hypocrite. He has a CCW but as mentioned above, he feels only his life is worth protecting. The lives of us worker peasants are worthless.

Besides his CCW, he also has a registered Colt AR-15 Sporter in the good state of california. So he's definately not "anti-gun", he's "anti-peons owning guns"

When asked if he isn't being a bit two-faced about his gun ownership and his CCW, Perata answers that he needs the CCW to protect himself from the threats he has received from gun nuts. Strangely, there have been no prosecutions of gun nuts who have 'threatened' him.

Clearly automobiles are too dangerous... we need sensible restrictions placed on automobiles...

Everyone will take their automobiles to a local buy back where they will be issued a Trabant by the Department of Transport.

I am sure some place it exists, but is there a list of anti gun politicians who have a CCW? I think that's a list that should be used more often. Link anyone?

"Politicians who think their life is more important than yours" followed by all the names is a very powerful statement no doubt.

Sounds to me like he's more of a nut than the gun-nuts. This whole Elitism thing just makes me want to puke. It's like when The Hildebeast was heard to say, "We're the President and we know what's best for this country." The arrogance is just off the charts.

And where was this guy's gun when he got jacked? He needs a permit but doesn't have the sense to carry? What a maroon.

This one cracked me up. The place where he got jacked a little ways up from my old neighborhood, between Berkeley and Oakland. It's actually nicer than most of Oakland, trouble is the savages from West and North Oakland go there due to the concentration of stupid white people with stuff to steal. This is what you get when you've got a half staffed police force, closed crime lab and shut down jail. Plus a mayor that thinks the citizens don't want more cops.

Interestingly, gun nuts need their guns to protect themselves from the threats they have received from politicians.

I knew he had a CCW....

The AR-15 is a shocker though.

Elitism is showing its ugly head I think.

Guns aren't the problem...cars with purdy wheels are. If he had been driving a Yugo, he would have been fine. That's called "life in the fast-lane"...snicker, snicker.

Ya gotta love it when the bad guy wins; the "good" guy loses, and the danged fool still can't see the light of day. :neener:

51st and shattuck... i used to live in that neighborhood... thankfully CCW permits weren't available to the lumpenmensch when I lived there.

Sent email to the honorable CA Senator

I just sent the following email to senator Perata:-

Dear sir,
I am a FL resident and a pro 2nd Amendment and fire arm ownership supporter.
I read with interest about your recent car jacking incident and also read some additional comments about your position on fire arm ownership that I found quite intriguing and to say the least, somewhat confusing.
From what I have read, and correct me if I am wrong, as a Democratic party politician, you are a STRONG supporter of much stricter fire arm control measures and that you also supported the Assault rifle ban legislation during the early '90's.
On the other hand, however, I also read, and feel free to correct me if I wrong again, that you have a permit to carry a concealed fire arm. With that I would have to assume that you therefore also own at least one concealable fire arm. Furthermore, I am led to believe that you are also the proud owner of a Colt AR-15 Sporter assault rifle.
My questions to you sir, are:-
- How do you reconcile these two totally conflicting pieces of information?
- How can you be a politician that strongly supports fire arm control and at the same time own presumably multiple fire arms? I would guess you own at least two - a concealable hand gun and an assault rifle.
- Does your political party know that you are directly in conflict with the party line on fire arm ownership?
- How do you justify your fire arm ownership, but at the same time want to remove and/or limit fire arm ownership for law abiding citizens?
- Do you really believe that stricter fire arm control legislation will reduce violent crime? I am sure you will agree with me, that criminals, by intent, do not concern themselves with any laws and would therefore not even blink an eye at stricter fire arm legislation.
- Would you be prepared to give up the fire arms that you currently own, should the government at some point in time decide to 'confiscate' all fire arms for our own safety?
- Or, do you believe that certain people should be entitled to own fire arms, but not the 'general populace'?
- Have you seen any statistics regarding the increase in violent crime in countries where fire arm ownership has been severely limited? Case in point here is South Africa. Are you aware of the explosion in violent crimes in that country since the introduction of their 'Gun Free South Africa" legislation?
I am awaiting your aswers with bated breath
Sincerely
Cxxxxxx Sxxxxxxxx
