I cannot go range very often, but I pratice shooting by dry firing. I have snap caps for my every rifle (and I love A-Zoom most!) except my .22 LR. There seems no one make snap caps for .22 LR. The reason seems obvious: rimfire makes this difficult. What do you guys dry fire a .22 LR rifle with? snap caps (please tell me if you bought one) or something else?

If you want to save some money, just use a spent .22 lr case.

I've seen 'em at the local gun shop from time to time. There's none there right now though. They're good people, maybe they'd ship some to you. Their website is a little haywire, but I'm sure you can find a phone number on there.

I've used spent cases in the past, but you have to rotate rims and cases after awhile. Recently, I've just gone to plastic dummy rounds, because it's easier to see that the gun isn't loaded. I don't do a lot of dry firing, but it's probably a good training technique. I wish manufacturers would incorporate a mechanical block so we could dryfire without peening chambers or pins.

I have some plastic ones, so I know they exist. Spent cases can't be used excessively, they need to be rotated very frequently.

They're a bit pricey ($4 a pair), but you could always go with these -

Solid brass snap caps. In the pic you'll note a real round on the left, the snap cap on the right.

Hmmm... I've never been a fan of snaps that look like rounds. I use Azooms that are annodized red typically, and bright orange plastic .22lrs.

Remember, to "rotate" your empty brass if you use empty brass. Some get dinged up so badly that they don't have a lip anymore..
