Quick question... I bought tipton 308 snap caps for dry firing and after looking at where it strikes, the indentation is real faint. These snap caps have a metal area for the primer that is spring loaded to take the force of the firing pin. Is the material on real primers soft so that the firing pin leaves an obvious indentation? Because with the snap caps, there is only a slight indentation where the firing pin hit. Thanks for the clarification

The whole point of a snap-cap is to "give" and absorb the firing pin impact.
If they dented like real primers they would only be good for one or two snaps before the dent got so deep the firing pin couldn't reach it.

Snap caps are solid on the strike area. The real deals are a thin metal cup that when struck collapses in to the priming compound for ignition.
The CHEAP way to make snap caps is to deprime a sized case and fill the primer pocket with silicone. This will allow you to make them cheaply and let you have some for odd ball rounds like the 358 Norma Mag etc.
