I am in the market for two holsters, one that will be carrying a full-sized 1911 and another that will be carrying a Commander-sized 1911. I have read several positive comments about Wild Bill's and after talking to them yesterday I am convinced that the vegetable tanned leather is the way to go for a non-finish-attacking holster. I am specifically looking at the Fusion paddle and Summer Heat IWB holsters as I am trying to keep my budget for the holster under $60.

Other holsters that I am considering are:
Milt Sparks Watch Six
RafterS OWB and IWB (I think I would stretch for the Shark...)

Sure, I'd like to get a Tucker or Delfatti, but my current budget precludes the expense for now.

What are the lead times with Wild Bill's? IIRC, Milt Sparks is about 12-14 weeks and RafterS is about 6 weeks.

Thanks. :)

I've been waiting for 5 months now. Was recently told it "should be soon".

Well, that answers one of my questions. I know that HighNoon holsters ship within a week (I've got a couple of them), but I want to try a holster that relies solely on boning and not tension screws for retension.

Does anybody know how long leads times are with Bulman Gunleather? :uhoh:

Wild Bill's

I have had a Covert Carry for 5 or 6 months. It's a great design and the quality is excellent. It took a long time to get it. I think I waited 4 months,

I'm not familiar with those two models, but I like the other half dozen I've purchased from him at gun shows. I did special order one IWB with a modified angle and had it in a few weeks.

He's a friendly knowledgeable guy with a good product at a reasonable price. I guess he could hire a whole bunch of people and go corporate on us, but I like the personal touch.

Being more of a Kydex guy I don't have a lot of Wild Bill holster's. That said I really enjoy talking to Bill at every gun show I see him at, which is about everyone that I attend. His stuff is good and his wait time is sorta on the bad side but there is something to be said that when you call you are more than likely talking to the person that will make your holster. By the way Milt Sparks's current turn around time is 8-12 weeks.

I ordered a Speed Scabard from Wild Bill back in, oh, October, so I'm getting to the 12 week point now. I'm hoping to see it this month, but I'm not going to stand by the mailbox;)
I figure, if you order a holster from a small shop, you're gonna have to wait!

I ordered from him two years ago and one year ago. Both times I had about a two month wait, which I think is normal or even quick for the custom holster makers. Could be the longer waits now are just because business is picking up.

Wild Bill's lead times are pretty normal for a small shop...PLUS ya know why his lead times are so much?? THEY are worth the wait!!!!...plus he is from everyone's favorite Carolina (NORTH!!!)...he is a nice guy that helped me when I was first starting in the holster business and not many will do that..I cannot recommend him enough
