I just picked up a few weeks ago a new Springfield M1A. I would like to find some good 20 round magazines for it, but the problem is that the gun shows around my part of the country seem to only have Chinese made magazines. Now, for patriotic, and quality, reasons I refuse to purchase ChiCom magazines.

Which brings me to my main questions: has anyone used Pro-Mag twenty round magazines? They state that they are made in the USA on their website and carry a lifetime warranty, but I still want to make sure that they are reliable before I make the investment in them.

Any, and all, of your feedback is welcome!!!

I had a pro mag for my m1a. It wouldn't stay in the gun when I fired it!!! Run do not walk away from that magazine! If you look on a factory or military mag there is a well defined rectangle welded on the back of the magazine. on the pro mag its nothing more than a bump made out of the magazine itself. It will not stay locked up in the magwell. It is quite possibly the biggest waste of money I ever spent. The USGI magazine's I got I haven't had the slightest problem with.

Why buy Pro-Mag? The CMI mags are a dollar or 2 cheaper and they are current GI issue so no problems with functioning at all.

Nothing but USGI for an MIA. If you try any after market mags, they will not work , trust us, we have tried many times, and end up just throwing our money away.

I have purchased a few Promags in the past for various guns. All of them were garbage. Not a single one would feed a whole mag without issue. Ever.

There are only two types of Promags that I have used that worked, the polymer AK ones and the Bersa .380 ones, all the rest as most in this thread have already said, are junk.

Convinced yet? They are pretty good for filling out a mag pouch for photo purposes, but so is a block of wood.

Thanks everyone!!!

I have heard Check-Mate magazines mentioned as well, but I heard that they also had some pretty crappy magazines (produced in the late 90's for the Navy?). Weren't they responsible for all the M9 magazine failures in the "sandbox"?

My experiance with pro mags was same as above...the worst by far that I ever had the displeasure of owning. I ended up using them as targets.

The Pro-Mags will not work. They will either feed improperly or never seat right.

Experience: Pro-Mag's in AR's and AK's. There's a reason why they are so lowly rated on Midwayusa.
