I have a question.

I'm in the process of completely tearing down a Ruger P85 MKII to refinish it and give her a good cleaning.

I have everything apart with the exception of the safety selector lever and the firing pin. For the life of me I can not figure out how to remove the selector and firing pin from the slide to strip everything.

I've got the original manual, the parts diagram off Ruger's site and looked online but can not figure it out.

Anyone got ideas???

Looks like you have to remove the rear sight, remove the firing pin block and spring, then the firing pin and spring.

The safety looks like you turn it half way and pull the right side out, then the left.

Here's what I've got done so far....

Rear sight removed
Part #KV02101 and the little spring #KQD5600 removed

Part #V08001 and V07900 do not exist with my model.

These are the parts remaining in the slide that I can not get out:
V01400 - Extractor
V01580 - Right side safety selector lever
KV04100 - Detent spring (right side)
KV06020 - Detent ball (right side)
KV01850 - Firing pin spring
KV01118 - Firing pin
V01500 - Left side safety selector lever

Pm me an e-mail and I can send you an old article on stripping a P Series. It's 5 pages.

You need to start by pushing out the extractor a few mm and prying it forward. This will release the right side safety or decocker.

Success!!!!

Thanks to everyone who posted, Kruzr actually came through with some instructions that saved me.

Hell, he probably saved a marriage......the wife was getting tired of listening to me bitch :cuss: about not getting that thing tore down completely:banghead:

Now I'm going to work on stripping it and refinishing my 9mm.

Thanks again to everyone for all the help!

Hunt.
