I am at a loss. My mother lives in a decent neighbourhood. In the last few days though there have been multiple stupid acts. There were several cars ransacked/searched and nothing stolen. Yard lights were ripped out of the ground and stolen. A shed was broken into and a kerosene heater stolen. Tonight a attempted arson a block away. There is no rhyme or reason to this crime wave. Any ideas? It just seems stupid but, the crimes are getting dangerous with arson. Kentucky law allows shooting an arsonist of an occupied dwelling.

Josey - not that I understand the mindset ------- seems there are guys out there that - unless they are breaking, smashing, trashing - something........... their lives are not fullfilled!

In your state, fortunately it seems ...... you can at least give transgressors hell ........ if they ''invade'' in some way. ''Make my day'' ......... go do it!!:p

I had a suggestion. Odd. This is an retirement neighbourhood. Many widows or estates. There are MANY hoses for sale in the area. The suggestion was that a developer may be creating a crimewave to lower property values. Hmmmm, could be. I still think it is a lone idiot.

I grew up with rental property. We on occasion had tenants who were mentally ill. Some would frequently do very similar to what you described. One guy would put on camouflage and sneak over into neighbor’s yards and do odd things to their property at night.

You might have a person who is starting to go into senility that is going out and doing these things. They can become very restless and go out at night and do odd destructive things.

The PD says that they just found out that a state mental hospital patient is out. He is living with his dad a couple of blocks over. He thinks he is James Bond. There is not enough evidence to link him to anything yet. Kentucky is broke, people are out that should be locked up.
