So, I have shot my cz p-01 twice now.

First time I shot it, I did really well. I shot it with 9mm and with .22lr Kadet conversion. I was getting nice groups around the X from 9yards to 15 yards. Not saying I'm a marksman but it was a good grouping for me. Consistently slightly high and slight left. Guess I'm most likely anticipating recoil.

Then I upgrade my P-01 with CGW Pro package. Trigger is very crisp on SA and reset is short. Trigger also feels smoother. It has an 18# hammerspring with a modified firing pin to work with the 18# spring. I like the heavier DA pull for safety and want my Kadet to work. Bottom line, very happy with upgrades.

Today however I was all over the place. Not consistent. I never shoot right. Well, today I was right, left, up , down. You name it. At 9 yards I was ok. Anything beyond was a mess. I almost wonder if I miss the longer trigger pull. This one breaks clean (like "glass" I read). Maybe I'm anticipating recoil and the trigger is throwing me off or something. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Is it just an adjustment I'm going to have to get through as I adjust to new trigger? Just an off day?

Thanks for thoughts / theories.

This usually happens when I am worried about shot placement, and keep moving the gun "out of my way" as I am pulling the trigger, so that I can see the impact. It settles down when I keep reminding myself to focus on the front sight.

You might be on to something there. I was hoping to see some improvement in my groups with my improved trigger. Maybe I was trying to see the shots rather than proper sight picture.

I have noticed that I tend to shoot a revolver better in DA than SA. I think it's because the long heavy DA trigger pull takes the tension out of my trigger finger and so there's less jerking. Just a theory.

With a shorter trigger reset, don't you also get a shorter trigger reach? The orientation of your trigger finger on the trigger may be different than on your original configuration. That could change the trigger pull from the straight-back style that you had. Voice of experience. It happened to me.

Try focusing on the sights only, the target will be there to look at when you are done. Focus on trigger control and sight picture only and see if that helps. It seems that is a common problem I hear frequently and I have done it myself with a new gun or when testing a new load. I have to slow down and focus on technique and the rest will follow.

Scattered shots are most commonly caused by aiming errors (sight alignment & sight picture on target) and trigger control errors.

One thing I've noticed over the years is if I have a couple cups of coffee my accuracy has a tendency to go to down hill fast. I think you just had an off day and my advice would be to start doing a lot more dry firing. It's the single most important thing you can do to get things back where they should be. Accurate shooting is mostly a mental thing, you have to concentrate on the action of your finger pulling the trigger in a way to minimize the movement of the sights and dry firing helps a bunch.

suggest you extend your follow-through and start calling your shots. most have a tendency to "slap" a light, crisp trigger.

luck,

How new of a shooter are you?

When I got my first gun in 1993, I sucked. I shot all over the place. No one showed me anything.

A couple of years later, I asked the range master one day to give me a few tips. He had me change to a weaver style stance, and to lean forward a little. He checked my gun grip, and then I tried it. Made a HUGE difference.

Also, over the years, I have learned that some guns need a different part of your trigger finger, depending on the gun/trigger. EIther the tip, the pad, or put the trigger up against the first joint of your trigger finger. Every once in a while, I do come across a gun I buy that I have to do this trick with the trigger to find out how I can get it to shoot well.

Maybe have someone else try the gun and see how it shoots for them. An experienced shooter.

I embraced the recoil.
I focused on the front sight heavily.
It did take me 50 rounds to settle in.

I did a magazine of semi rapid fire that helped.

Then, I really focused and shot well.

Here are 5 shots are 9 yards. The low left was my DA, rest were SA.

I'm calling David on Monday to order the pro package for my so-01!

Thanks for all he advice here!
