I just got a Kel-Tec PF-9. I was a little apprehensive about buying it, for fear it might not be completely reliable, but I liked the way it felt, and it looks like it will be an excellent CCW piece because of its small size.

I took it out and shot it today during lunch and I put 100 rounds of CCI Blazer Brass and 50 rounds of Federal Nyclads through it with no malfunctions at all. I am very happy with it. Shooting from about 25 feet, I can easily hit the vital area of a target.

So overall, this gun is showing promise. If anyone else has one of these, I would love to hear your comments.

Also, how do you carry your PF-9? It seems just a hair big for pocket carry.

I love mine, I've got well over 1,000 rds through it without an issue. I carry mine in an Uncle Mike's IWB holster, nothing fancy, but it works very well. I have no issues carrying this for self defense, it's been flawless since the first round, so no need to worry! Enjoy yours, money well spent in my book.

Flame Suit On: I love mine too. It's bites a little so since breaking it in I only shoot 20 or so rounds through it at a time. I carry it often and would trust it as much as anything I own. Aside from the common out of the box issue of the mag falling out it hasn't skipped a beat.

I've been curious as well. Some folks in another past thread mentioned they kept and practiced with Hornady 147 grain JHPs, I think. I'm wondering what SD ammo folks reguarly practice with.

If I were to get one I'd like to stick with the 147 grain JHPs because of such a short barrel I'd want as much weight behind the round as possible. Does anyone practice with +P ammo. Thanks ahead of time.

I certainly like mine and regularly carry it...light, comfortable, and extremely reliable! I carry 115 grn JHP +P's. I have yet to experience a malfunction.

I've heard a lot of people have experienced rust and finish-wear on the slide but, shoot, I don't hardly wipe mine off except when I clean it which is very seldom.

I consider it my knock-around carry gun and, because of the price, don't sweat the scratches and dings although it still doesn't have any after three years of carry.

Took mine to the range today...Bought it about a month ago...so far about 500 trouble free rounds through it...The hogue handall jr. grip is a must for these...Takes a lot of bite out of the recoil...they're pocket rockets for sure !

I really liked mine until recently.... I'm now getting light strikes on the primer so it does not go BANG everytime..... KelTec told me to send it back for warranty work..... I'll be sending it back in a few days and hopefully it will come back working properly.

I just love mine! I've put about 500 rounds through it without any problems. I pocket carry it in this:

Bought mine used. Previous owner did a "fluff and buff" and put about 700 rounds through it. I've put about 100 through it myself. Completely reliable. Accurate enough. A little big in the front pocket but not bad. Almost disappears in a CrossBreet MiniTuck holster IWB.

I've had one for 3 yrs now. Great gun with no issues. I IWB or pocket carry in cargo shorts. Fits nicely in the inside pockets of suits or my leather riding jacket.

mine feeds doubletap 147g+P gold dots 100%

Great gun..especially for the price. Accurate, dependable and easy to carry. Mine is usually doing BUG duty behind my Wilson Combat Professional. It is my everywhere gun and even gets carried in shorts around the house and yard. In over 1500 rounds it has never failed me. I carry 124gr. Federal Hydrashoks in it.

After inserting the mag I always push in the mag release from the right side to make sure it is seated fully....found this helps with my P3AT that would drop a mag now and then and now do it with all of my Keltec's...actually, I do it with all my polymer pistols just out of habit. I've found sometimes they will push in just a bit indicating the release didn't seat quite all the way.

Anybody who wants one should PM me. I have a hard chromed example I'll sell. I don't care for the size of the gun, though I was initially quite enthusiastic. Too long and too tall for a proper pocket gun. Better choices out there for belt carry. Mine got retired to the gun cabinet in favor of a j-frame .38.

I got mine in April. It rides in an IWB holster which is worn between the waistband and belt, so it's a little more like OWB carry, with the bulge smoothed over by the belt. I carry this way because it's more comfortable than my intended IWB, and because I didn't want to replace all my pants with some one size bigger. I have Pocket-carried it once or twice, but I don't have quite the right holster for that yet.
My gun has performed flawlessly as well so far. Duty ammo is Remington UMC 115gr JHP.

I have had mine for ~6 months. I find it to be very reliable as long as I keep my big fingers of things like the side of the slide and mag release!

Are there better guns out there, yep. Are there smaller or lighter guns, yep. Are there...you can see where this is going! Everything in this world is a compromise and the PF-9 is no different. IMOO it's a serviceable, reliable, accurate and inexpensive CCW pistol.

As far as pocket carry goes, I think the PF-9 is to big. Mine rides very unobtrusively IWB at 4 o'clock in a kydex grandfather oak hidden companion holster.

My friend has one and brought it over for me to try out. It was a little bigger than I had imagined, but I liked it well enough to buy back my Kahr PM9 from my money-desperate brother. I was resigned to my MK-40 for the role my PM9 now fills again, but the weight issue is not to be overlooked so easily. The PF-9 reminded me of that.

The PF-9 is light and skinny and inexpensive. It is also reliable from my experience and Kel-Tec is one hell of a customer service friendly company. People love to criticize them, but if you happen to get one that is sub-par (a realistic possibility with anything you buy), exercise patience and Kel Tec will reward you.

Side story: years ago, my Kahr MK40 elite98 was an absolute mess I literally wanted to throw down the lane of the range at which it was malfunctioning...AGAIN. Instead, I studied its design, worked with Kahr over several months, changed out some parts (including factory and aftermarket parts, such as Wolff recoil springs and assembly) and I got it to run 100%. Kel Tec will be even more cooperative from what I understand, should you ever require their assistance.

I picked mine up today. The shop had a first gen pf9 in the display, and I purchased a new production gun (ups dropped it off right before I got there) the difference in the feel of the two guns was amazing. the first gen felt like a cheap piece of crap. the new production feels much nicer and better made.

I have relatively small hands and small wrists and i have to have a deathgrip on my pf-9 to make it fire reliably.

I've been carying my PF-9 for a year and a half. Wouldn't call myself a "fan" but I'm completely satisfied that it will serve if ever called on. It's a very good pocket pistol.

just bought one a few days ago; couldn't settle on a semiautomatic handgun for CCW; my usual is a S&W j-frame centennial .38 spl +p snubby; hope the Kel Tec will be a good choice and work well
