Is there anyone on here who owns land (or know anyone who owns land) near Louisville, KY who would let me and perhaps a buddy shoot on it from time to time? I'm in the Louisville area and I know no one who owns any. I moved here in order to attend Seminary from a small farm town in NE Ohio where all I had to do was walk into the fields behind my house in order to shoot until my hands started bleeding. The only good range around here is rather pricey:

RATES

30 Minutes (1 person, 1 Lane): $9.00
30 Minutes (2 persons, 1 Lane): $13.50
1 Hour (1 person, 1 Lane): $18.00
1 Hour (2 person, 1 Lane): $27.00

Bluegrass Indoor Range

I'd be mighty grateful and would clean up after myself.

Thanks!

To get to Knob Creek from the 'ville:

Take I-65S to Gene Snyder W
Exit at Dixie Hwy
Turn left at light heading south out of town
Pass the concrete plant and LG&E generating station
A couple miles further, look for a concrete flood wall on left
Turn L thru floodwall onto Rt 44 (Shepherdsville Rd.)
pass by a pink liquor store and a trailer park
look for Knob Creek range on your right
turn in by the sign, go over the rickety bridge, pass a house
firing range is a few hundred yards further

PM me if you go

It used to be pretty easy to find such a place but not nowadays. I've been looking for a place like that since my friend sold his place near Eminence Ky. Blue Grass is only about 8 miles from me whereas Knob Creek is darn near 50 miles and I hate that drive due to some physical problems. Knob creek is a nice place to shoot though, and to browse around their shop after.

I've been to the Machine Gun shoots and I like the area of Knob Creek. I've been meaning to go to Clark State forest as well. Probably this spring. But nothing is as peaceful as private land. I tell ya, I wish I had some money because I'd buy some of this beautiful country up.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'm gonna keep my ears open to what is out there.

Any of you simply gone up to a farm owner and asked if he'd be willing to let you shoot on his land without knowing the guy? On one end, there is nothing wrong with that and could lead to fruitful friendships, but I just don't know how proper it is these days.
