I'm 5'11'' 325lbs, all table muscle. Some people would call me fat, I think I'm just big boned. You know, after taking a bathroom break and looking in the mirror before finishing this, I realized I'M FAT. Any way, I find it funny when people say you need to buy your pants one or two sizes larger to

carry IWB. I just shift some of that fat around my holster. If Missouri's Supreme Court does the right thing Thursday, a full size witness 45 IWB #9 Fist Kidex holster, is the way I plan on carrying most of the time as I have been doing it for about a year, on my own property.

I find the fat molds around it and conceals it nicely.:D

6'3" @ 300!

I have had simply great sucess with the FIST #1 IWB - FYI http://www.fist-inc.com/. Have had it made for a number of guns e.g. 1911, CZ 83, S&W 686 and 386, Kimber Pro Carry, etc. Worn on a good belt at 4 o'clock it is a great way to carry concealed. Don't care how big or little you might be. Great quality at a very, very reasonable price. Good shooting;)

I just tried a sholder holster that someone gave me tonight....not for me at all.....How do fat guys wear these things.....maybe it was adjusted wong, but I couldn't put my arm down and it printed like mad....I'll stick w/ the belt holster..........try before you buy.....

you probably didnt have it adjusted right...Chunky people's also tend to have wide broad shoulders...if your buddy was smaller than you it wouldnt fit right at all.

5'11" (age and back surgery seemed to have stolen an inch!) somewhere around 280 lbs...not kg's.

I carry either a Dan Wesson Razorback 1911 or a S&W N frame 4" at 3 o'clock. IWB for the 1911. OWB for the N frames.

Somewhat of a pear shape myself and lacking in butt.

Good pistol belt can only do so much. Suspenders are the order of the day.

Despite my size, my rear end is somewhat flat and anything heavy worn on my belt tends to drag my pants down unless I cinch it real tight.
I have the same problem, and have been carrying a Para Carry (3" 1911) with a Don Hume IWB clip on with a Gould and Goodrich belt pretty good.

I thought about going to a shoulder rig, but I wear mostly sweatshirts, so I am correct in assuming it'd print pretty good under the sweatshirt?

Has anyone had any experience with the IWB's that have 2 snap fasteners on each side? You put the holster IWB and run the snap fasteners under and up and snap on your belt. I figure the weight is a little more distributed over a few inches and would maybe carry better?

yea the snaps or screws spread the weight out a little bit...it costs a little bit more than a metal clip but not extremely so...an offset loops works better for me.

If you wear a big enough sweatshirt it shouldnt print that bad...I have carried my p-11 or pt145 under one more than once and havent worried to much about printing...

I'm not nearly as flabby as I said in my last post but I am fat. I also said my IWB was a Fist #9. Trying to find the right holster means I've got so many I don't know what I've got. Accually I use the #9 for OWB and the #11,
http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/holster/11.htm , for IWB.

I also have the same problem of no butt to hold things up and find the loops make a world of difference IWB.

Any good suggestions for a IWB like that for a 3" 1911? I'd like one that holds the gun forward 45 degrees (FBI carry) and preferably black leather.

I like dealing with these guys a lot, http://www.gunnersalley.com/category/holsters.leatherholsters.insidewaistbandiwb/ . Just find a Fist holster you are interested in, click on it, then scroll down to the pull down menu for weapons and see if yours is there,

barrell lenght etc.. I order from GunnersAlley because they get a break on price from Fist and pass some of it along to their customer. I like the Kidex for IWB because of weight and thinness. Fist uses the thinnest I have seen. Almost, not all, Fist holsters are available in Kidex. There are many

good holsters out there and i don't get anything out of promoting Fist, I just happened to be a very satisfied customer. As for black leather and FBI cant, you should find anything you are looking for at the link I furnished for ya. Good luck.

I'm 6'3" & 230 Lbs...

I've been 6'3" since the 10th grade but my weight has gone from 165 to 245 and back to 165 again.
I "feel" like a fat-a$$.<shrug> My holster depends on what I'm carrying. I just got a Coronado Concealment Vest I like for carry the best, but I won't be able to wear it in hot weather. During the hell of a Kentucky summer, I'll wear a hip holster and an untucked shirt for cover. Sometimes, in the summer at night, I can wear a "Concealed Carrier Clothiers" vest. As long as my pistol is covered up, I don't care who looks at me and thinks--"He might have a gun under there". I'm pretty careful to keep my stuff concealed. ~I reckon I shouldn't have "mooned" the County Prosecutor". However, it seemed right at the time. He's a big anti...and also, gun owner.
YOU HEAR THAT, YOU ELITIST SOB!
Whoa! Down boy. :) (How can someone go from a Reagan Republican to a clinton Democrat????????????)

Y'all make me feel all warm inside, I thought I was the only 'fat guy' that had problems carrying.:) I just wish someone had an answer for my pants falling down when I wear my full size Witness 45 IWB. If I pull my belt up too tight it throws me off balance and i can't aim straight. Don't have any

problem with my breathing when I shoot though, as I can't breath either.:what:

Byron...

I believe I'd better get my wife to put the tape measure on me tonight. My 34" inseam used to be perfect. Now, 34" is a bit long. Back surgery could have done this "shorter thing" to me also. HUmmmm. It NEVER ends.

5'5", pushing the higher edge of 250 right now.

been carrying a kimber tle iwb at 3:00 for almost a year now.
my problem is i do have a fat rear so positioning the holster beyond 3 results in serious printing.

my work attire is usually khakis and an untucked button down or even a sweatshirt. covers perfectly. occasionally i'll use a tuckable iwb and tuck my shirt in, but that doesnt happen too often.

and we arent "fat". we are 'tactically large'. when the SHTF and all the skinny peeps are dieing cause they have nothing to eat, we'll still be surviving off our 'energy reserves'.
:neener:

Byron is right, suspenders are indeed the way to go - keeps the weight on your shoulders where it belongs - add a quality belt and holster and you're all set.

Also, there's a rubber belt thingie called "Hidden Tailor" that keeps your shirt tucked in *and* your pants up. When you don't want to wear suspenders, it's great with a holster. Made by a company called Flex-belt, you can find suppliers on the web. Look around, though, prices are all over the lot. It's made for baseball umpires who move around a lot and want to keep their shirts tucked in. Works like a charm. A search on the archive of The Firing Line may lead to a supplier too.

And you'll like it when not carrying too.

oweno,

Thanks but this statement, "The "HIDDEN TAILOR" is especially designed to fit all waist sizes up to 43 inches", from their web site, http://www.flexbelt.net/how.html , doesn't quite fit the bill, as my waist is 52". Sure sounds like a great idea though.

EDITED; I have sent them an e-mail. Will let you know what they say.
