Any mean looking 22LRs out there that are CA legal?

Armscor of Philippines has an AK looking 22LR and a M-16 looking 22LR legal for sale in CA. The quality seems low when I examined it.

Are there any other manufacturers that make mean looking 22LR rifiles out there?

I realize that the Ruger 10/22 is one of the best and I can get a bullpup kit for it, but it seems too much like a hack job, especially with how the trigger is set up.

Would be nice to get something stock and looks menacing like the DPMS Panther, but that isn't CA legal.

FAB-10 is neutered too. Just doesn't look right without an extended magazine.

You could always chop off the bottom of a 20 or 30 round magazine and glue it to the bottom of the fake magazine well of a FAB-10. :)

Ferocious, huh? :D

whoa J, my boss and I just went out to the range today and he sighted in his gun that you have pictured

That's a Stevens' Favorite, made by Savage, TCD. (How did it shoot?)

The CA AW ban excludes 22LRs but the federal AW ban includes 22LRs.

I read that on http://www.awatters.com/m1a/calegal.html

I guess it's not economically sound to manufacture a menacing looking 22LR. Like an oxy-moron, but I'm sure there are a few people out there who want a scary looking small caliber rifle like me.

SURE there is.... Just get the ever modular Ruger 10/22 and drop it into a Choate pistol grip stock:

Then add a Choate or Eagle flash supressor.

I had a Choate folder on mine for a while, before I was old enough to buy my own guns. I even have a 15+ year old pic of my cousin and I dressed like Ninjas holding our folded Rugers.... SAD, I know.

You can still find pre-ban 25 round mags for it, or you can get the 10 rounders that stick out a bit...

Then there's the Zephr sighting system that gives it an HK front sight and peep rear.

But if I weren't left handed, I probably would have put mine in the bullpup stock. They just look cool  .

You could get one of those Calico 100-rounder .22s.
Err... Onslaught... is that 10/22 a pre-ban? If it's post ban, I believe you're commiting a federal crime.

Combat-Wombat,

I believe the stock would be legal on a post-ban rifle as long as you don't add the flash hider, correct?

Onslaught,

That's a nice stock. How hard is it to swap the stock on a 10/22? For the mechanically challenged, that is. ;) I still don't have a .22lr rifle and I keep wavering between a 10/22, a levergun in .22 and whatever else grabs my fancy at the moment.

It is stupid simple to restock a 10/22. Unscrew barrel band , slide off , unscrew stock screw . Pull action from stock .

You could always get of those MG/34 dress up kits for a 10/22.

I don't know about mean looking but you can get the FeatherUSA RAV-22. It's got a pistol grip and detachable magazine. I me it looks like an updated Sten, but it seems to work. I saw a guy today shoot one at the indoor range. Looks interesting. Feather makes it so you can hang all kindsa doo-dads onto it like some kinda uber-tactical squirrel gun. Target Masters in Milpitas sells them. They have a brochure there and you can have them order, so I assume that you could have your local FFL order one for you. Not especialy cheap starting at 399.

I have the older version of the Feather 22 rifle called the AT 22. Nice plinking gun and extremely lightweight. At the range today, I saw this person with a CZ 22LR upper for an AR. It looked really nice and was surprisingly accurate. I believe J&G have them on special now for around $280. I'm thinking about getting one for myself! :what:
