Any opinions on this handgun safe

My little one is getting ready to start walking and climbing and all of my guns are in the safe except a couple of handguns in the drawer beside the bed and I need a hangun safe so I can safetly keep them within reach and still keep him away from them. Anyone ever had any experiance with these-

I really like that they can hold 2 plus lots of ammo and they are half the price of the gun vaults.

I have one. It's a pain in the butt to program, but you should only have to do that rarely. It also has anti-movement detection and can take multiple codes for opening.

There's a soft but audible whine when it releases electronically, then a thud if you don't catch the door.

Doesn't seem to be a easy crowbar target, though a torch probably won't have much trouble.

I have one of these. It uses is Simplex (mechanical) pushbutton lock, is made of very thick welded steel. I think it may survive a nuke.

I use a GunVault Mini. I can fit one handgun and three magazines in it. Mine is a breeze to open in a hurry, and It will keep little kids away from your guns. It cost me about $100, but I have seen them priced for a little less. The GunVault Multi sells for about $150, and can store two handguns.

Just remember to change the battery every year, and you will be set to go. I would highly recommend it.

The "audible whine" Firethorn mentioned doesn't come from the speaker. It's the sound of the locking bolt retracting. I wouldn't even really call it a whine. It's not loud enough to be heard more than a few feet away - definately not outside the room. It's delivered with a "beeping keypad" but the beeps can be disabled through programming. The only big noise it makes is the thud Firethorn mentioned if you don't hold the door while it opens. The door is spring loaded and flies open by itself as soon as the latch releases making the aforementioned thud when it hits its rubber stops. Since the door opens down all you have to do is keep your thumb in front of it when you enter your code.

BTW, not the most secure container but does a reasonable job keeping rugrats out. It also comes with a baseplate that can be screwed down and then attaches to the box from the inside. So the baseplate can't be unscrewed without opening the box. In size, it falls between the GunVault Mini and Maxi. It easily holds two guns with its slide-in shelf in place.

I keep one in my bedroom for when I need a handgun in a hurry. But if I'm not going to be home, any guns that would be left in the "SportSafe" go into the main safe. It's not great security but for $55-60 it beats hiding a gun in your underwear drawer!
