This question probably comes up alot but I'm looking to get a gun safe to put in a closet. I need one that will fit 3 long guns and 3 handguns. It would be nice if I could fit a couple 40mm ammo cans inside too.

The problem is I don't have a truck so it would have to be delivered. The closet is quite small and I will probably be moving in less than a year so i dont want something too big and heavy or expensive. I think inside the closet it would not be enough room for a theif to smash the side with a sledge hammer.

I see this one from walmart:

It's 170lbs which wouldn't be too hard to move around when needed, I plan on bolting it to the wall/floor.

Anyone have any opinions of that safe or any reccomedations?

Point #1: They don't come in a size "too big" cause you will always fill them up and want a bigger one!
Point #2: Look up one by Zannotti (may be bad spelling!) Armour. They make theirs so they are in pieces and are therefore easy to ship, install, dismantle and move. They are a bit pricy though.

That should work fin. The average burgler only spends minutes in a house. I leave a few bucks, and a old wheel gun on the night stand so he has something for his trouble. $40.00 and a junk gun, he will be happy and leave.

Well i spent half the day looking up various safes and I think the simpliest answer is usually the best so I will just get that Sentry and bolt it down good. It also occured to me that I could buy another identical safe later and bolt the two together and use the second one for storing ammo to beef up the weight even more. It would be much easier to move around 2 small safes than one big safe when it comes time to move.

Does the Sentry mention any fire resistant ratings or time?

Just curious...I didn't see it or may have overlooked it.

You might want to find a cheap starter pistol, or file off the firing pin or something. I'd hate to give a BG a free gun plus ammo money! :D

Good idea, otherwise. Never thought of it.
