Any other 6.5 x 55 Swede fans?

I think this is one of the times using the search feature will overwhelm you with info.

To answer your question, I have two Swedish M96s. They are the bees knees and I wouldn't trade them for a spotted hog.

I, too, have a CZ550 in 6.5x55SM. Great shooter with heavy bullets. Seems to really like the Lapua 155 gn with 45gn of IMR4350. Less than 1" at 100 yards are common.
I have found the single set trigger great for off hand target shooting. However, I keep the unset trigger weight at 3.5 lbs. for hunting.

Gotta love the 6.5x55. Great accuracy without the recoil. Great caliber for women and youngsters, too.

I shoot a Gustav (Gustaf) 96 Mauser (long rifle) using Swede milsurp ammo (140gr), it is by far the sweetest shooting milsurp rifle I own and, my guess is, it would be even better with a heavier bullet.

I will never drill it for glass, but I think if it were scoped, it would be sub MOA without any other alterations.

Karl and his boys really got it right.

The 6.5x55mm Swedish Mauser is the finest cartridge ever invented by man...

No disagreement here;)

Here's a picture of the favorite swede in my collection, an 1899 Oberndorf:

I've had this really nice 1944 Husky for about 8 months and sadly haven't had a chance to shoot it yet- I might this coming friday when I have vacation.

I only have 3 Swede Mausers at this time. I feel like I need more.

The 6.5 x 55mm is a real shooter. I wish I would have figured that out years and years before I did...

Oh sure, but could you have hit a full one? (joke) great round and great shooting.

Have been using a 6.5x55 in 1,000 yard F Class Competition for the past 3 years. In a modern rifle, this round loaded to it's potential is about as good as it gets for optimal performance and decent barrel life.

Anyone using the Tikka T3 in the 6.5x55 Swede ???

Is the CZ 550 the model that requires extra-high scope mounts to clear the bolt handle ?

Which ammo-makers produce good loads for it - specifically 129gr. and 140gr. bullets?
Anyone producing with with varmint-construction bullets - maybe 100grainers ?

Virtually ignored by domestic makers

A damn shame too. I'd agree that it is the finest rifle cartridge ever designed.
The best part about it is how easy it is to shoot well. Devestating on game as well.

A Swedish Mauser is definitely on my to-get list; it's only a matter of time. I've heard nothing but good things about them.

Not to interrupt, but which range? I'm trapped down here (Naples/Ft. Myers) for another three weeks...

I got three of the Swede mausers, and they are all good shooters. I'm thinking that my next gun may be a AR-10 chambered for .260 Rem (which I think is a 6.5mm Swede-like bullet shot from a necked-down .308 case). I don't think a real 6.5x55SE round will fit in an AR-10 magazine.

Are Swede Mausers still going pretty cheap, or has the source dried up?

I`ve had a M96, a M700 Classic and now drive a Mark X with a Hart barrel. I wish I`d never thought of trading the M700 but,......
It`s a great cartridge!

They've gone up quite a bit. They're selling for around 300.00 or so nowadays.

but since gas is around $4.00 a gallon, I guess that still is pretty cheap for a nice rifle...

Not to ignore the commerical rifles, but a M70 Classic in 6.5 X 55 Swede and the M700 Classic series in 6.5 X 55 are excellent rifles in their own right.

The 6.5 X 55 cartridge has an excellent reputation as a game cartridge. It was used for a very short time in WWII, probably did better than the Carcano or the Japanese round.

I am a huge fan of the 6.5x55. I have a Sako and a Remington. I have not had a chance to take them hunting, but they are fine shooters.
