I've been looking at buying a Beretta 92fs but today I went into another shop that had the vertec. It's seemed to feel fine and also had an accessory rail which is a plus. The grip felt a lot diffeent than the standard 92fs as did the trigger. Now that these have been out for a bit what is the concensus?

Thanks

Some people feel that the combination of the recontoured handle and short trigger makes the trigger feel to short, and install a standard trigger for a better feel.
The rail makes harder to find a holster, fewer options.
YMMV

I guess I'm just a traditionalist :scrutiny: I just don't like the asthetics of the Vertec. But from what I've seen, read & heard, it's a nice pistol.

Grip ergonomics...I can't tell the difference with a normal two handed grip but handling with weak hand only feels better.

The stock trigger sucks, get a D spring. It's $2.24 shipped from Beretta USA. I don't like the short trigger.

It's ugly.

Should be every bit as reliable as the 92FS, me thinks.

I would prefer the E1A, which I believe comes with a 92D spring and stock trigger. Even still, I would add LTT's speed bump trigger. The E1A is a Vertec with a decoker only and the brigadier slide.

As was previously noted, if the E1A does not come with the 92D spring already in gun, it is an inexpensive swap, but IIRC, all "Elite" models come with it. And as mentioned, I would personally prefer Ernest Langdon's (LTT) speed bump trigger for the sake of reducing over travel.

Nice gun. I think you will want to replace the hammer spring as noted above. CHEAP and EASY to do. Actually, I got Wolf's "calibration pack" (or something like that). It came with a 16, 17, 18, and 20 lb spring I think. I have been using the 16lb spring with zero problems. -major improvement
