I have wanted a glock 17 for a few years now, but being a college student I never have money, well I finally saved some cash. I am not a big fan of finger grooves on automatics, and thus prefer the 2nd generation frame design. I'm going to try to hunt down one in decent shape tomorrow evening at a local gun show and was wondering if anyone had any tips on what to look for or avoid on a used glock. I am also curious if there are any serial number ranges on the second gen gun I should avoid for frame cracking or something. also what is a good source for pre-ban mags for the 17 nowadays. Also if there is a really pressing reason you think I should go for the newer designed frame let me know.

I prefer the second generations myself.I have never heard of Glock frames cracking, except for the rear frame rails on "E"serial number third generations.A source for pre ban mags is [www.cdnninvestments.com].The 17 is my second favorite gun, right behind the 19.CW

Most people I know prefer the 2nd generation Glock and my brother's 1994 G17 has been %100 reliable through many many rounds though he never cleans his gun or anything.

I have a nib g17 second generation i'm looking to unload. It comes with 2 factory 17rnd mags. Actually it comes with everything it came with from the factory. tupperware brush ect, never fired. where you located?

My one and only Glock. She now has a KKM barrel, 3.5 connector, extended mag catch, and a Seattle slug. Now if i can only find a smooth trigger face...
