Here's a recent article on the 220's. Interestingly enough, the short barreled 220 Carry had the best group average. Although the Match did have one 5 shot group that was only .47"!

Hey guys, just joined this forum.
Question: Gonna be buying a 220 tomorrow, slide has made in W.Germany on it. Gun is 95% condition wise, comes with with n/sights & (1 mag).
"Slight holster wear = 95%"
Didn't know to look for any proof markings, but the serial# is G200xxx
Does this tell any of you guys anything?
Will call Sig customer service tomorrow but wanted to see if somebody knows something I don't.......Been wanting one of these for a long time, own 4 glocks and NEVER a hiccup, just love a 220......

If I had to guess you are buying a 220 made in the early 90's and most likely made in Germany. Easy to tell if it was made in Germany because if it was it will have a two letter date code under the front of the dust cover and/or proof marks. All the older sheet steal slide Sigs say made in Germany or W. Germany because all these types of slides were made over there, but not necessarily the pistol. At some point in the early 90's they started bringing parts over here for assembly and that's when the proof marks and date codes went away.

Added Hogue recheckered grips

Just picked one up before Christmas, mid 90's been reliable and pretty accurate for a rookie. Hope to get a lot of time on it in the next few weeks.

I put a set of Hogue not-finger-grooved rubber grips on my 1996 German P220 and it fits my hand like it was meant to be there. Best .45 out there if you like all-metal and singlestack.
